I had this and the drain holes in the sills were blocked. Do a search theres been loads on this recently.

I had this and its the ratchet on the clutch pedal. Needs a squirt of grease to cure it.

VVT on these is only for emissions at lower revs. The 5k kick is when the ECU allows the engine to have the fuel it wants and hence the kick in power and torque.

i had this problem as well the end of the union nut had flanged out over the solid line. i had to replace the passenger side line as it was that bad.

With good air feeds and some sort of heat shield theres nothing wrong with an open filter. My fuel consumption didn't change when I fitted mine either. Only really worth it if your after noise though.

This and the damp belt theory seem the best so far!. I'll get a voltmeter on the battery tomorrow and see what that shows.

Definately odd. Doesn't do it every morning either only when its cold or damp. May have exagerated how long it does it for as well as its probably only half a second straight after the car fires.

When the cars cold and I start the engine I get a squeal for about 1-2 immediately as it fires up. It only does it when the engine is cold. Both belts and the power steering pump were done in October. It's got power steering fluid etc and drives perfectly fine. Could this just be moisture...

It's still loud when going for it BUT on the motorway most of the drone has gone (which is what I wanted to get rid of) as its the most annoying noise in the world.

I made something very similar to this but obviously made the hole in the centre bigger. TBH i wasn't sure it was going to make any difference and was quite surprised that it did. The other half should be happier now also as we wont have to shout at each other whilst going down the motorway.

Just to let everyone know. I made an insert today and its definitely made a difference. Allot less boom between 3k and 4k and idle is allot quieter. I can't say I've noticed a difference in power either. To top it off I can now hear induction noise which IMO sounds a hell of allot better than...
