Re: The original & the worst since 2004, well every other sods cleaned this weekend..
Lovely, I would love a simple cage like that in my life - however my poor shed gets used as a van on a daily basis :(
I am sure it was fine up to about 5 months ago when lifters (!?) started failing / drinking oil etc - what happened at that point to cause all of the problems?
Out of interest have you got any independent RR data on the car?
Advantages - increase in power, increase in MPG, increase in exhaust noise
Disadvantages - will not pass an MOT (inc other implications for a road vehicles road worthiness), increase in exhaust noise!
Leak down, not compression; it was actually Henk who suggested it with one of our cars, far more precise than a compression test.
As already highlighted, the RR facility you are using - what sort of environmental compensation does it use, if any? and have you used the facility in very differing...
Full cambelt, full aux belt. Don't bother with either the dephaser or the water pump unless they are showing signs of failure. The water pump is a fable passed on from the smaller capacity engines.

Alternatively you can remove the blower, pull the material out and then reseal with a handcut gasket / silicon and a few self tappers.
Hi Chaps, it was us that provided the above quote, and it has also highlighted some mistakes on my part!
£75.00 is our standard gearbox oil change using Renaul/Elf box oil.
We carried out a similar job last week (clutch imploded and we removed the box completely for the job) for a member on...
yeah, we never change it unless it's on it's way out or the customer specifically requests it. We have only ever experienced one car that needed another cambelt service post dephaser fail, and we sorted the chap out with a good price.
