The original & the worst since 2004, well every other sods cleaned this weekend...

Re: The original & the worst since 2004, well every other sods cleaned this weekend.. Lovely, I would love a simple cage like that in my life - however my poor shed gets used as a van on a daily basis :(

    What to do....

I am sure it was fine up to about 5 months ago when lifters (!?) started failing / drinking oil etc - what happened at that point to cause all of the problems? Out of interest have you got any independent RR data on the car?

    ktr exhaust

Yup, its a good system for the money. I believe they have redesigned the mounts & a few other bits recently as the last one we fitted went on a treat.

Who runs decat? What and why?

Yes, slight - don't misunderstand me I'm not talking huge amounts, but recordable.

Who runs decat? What and why?

Advantages - increase in power, increase in MPG, increase in exhaust noise Disadvantages - will not pass an MOT (inc other implications for a road vehicles road worthiness), increase in exhaust noise!

    172/182 inlet manifold?

First the 182 upper won't fit. Porting BOTH the upper and the lower will see good gains.

    Where'd me power go??

Leak down, not compression; it was actually Henk who suggested it with one of our cars, far more precise than a compression test. As already highlighted, the RR facility you are using - what sort of environmental compensation does it use, if any? and have you used the facility in very differing...

    Where'd me power go??

Which cams out of interest? For starters I'd carry out a leak-down test & check all the the ignition parts.

Burpspeed Version 2: Race Car Build

Proper cut setup, or a pure MS aircon removal kit with a standard alternator required. Any ideas why the Alternators are being eaten alive?

    sounds like a scooby engine!

Stop messing about Phelim - throwing parts at it won't achieve anything, bring it round - I'll sort it. ;)

    Yet another race car build...

Re: 172 cup sprint/track car - soon to be RS2'd Good to see a project thread mark, keep me in the loop.

5 Year service and all belts changed

Full cambelt, full aux belt. Don't bother with either the dephaser or the water pump unless they are showing signs of failure. The water pump is a fable passed on from the smaller capacity engines. I'm not sure if I spoke to you on Wed on the phone, as the chap I spoke to was also from North of...

What do itb's actually give you, performance wise?

Its difficult to compare the two sets of results directly because if you look at the torque resolution on the two separate rolling roads it is very different. The res of the original rollers is fair greater hence the peaks & troughs on the first, and the seeming flat line on Paul's setup. You...

    sounds like a scooby engine!

I'd suspect a lambda sensor. As above do you have a fault light?

    My PA RESULTS

The software doesn't know what gear you are in? Also the drag coefficient seems vastly different. I think its safe to assume your doing it wrong ;)

No more hosepipe ban (R32 content)

Surely there are ways of pulling some weight of them behind the scenes? I do love these, not for the pace as I regard them as slow, more of a complete package I think. I also much prefer this shape over the new ones.

The everlasting ph1 ITB Build **GREEN-BUILD STARTS AT PAGE 100**

Re: No Compromise ph1 ITB build (Fastcar, BTM, TDF, RS Fab) - ITB update p77 Alternatively you can remove the blower, pull the material out and then reseal with a handcut gasket / silicon and a few self tappers.

    Gearbox Worries for a Novice!!

Hi Chaps, it was us that provided the above quote, and it has also highlighted some mistakes on my part! £75.00 is our standard gearbox oil change using Renaul/Elf box oil. We carried out a similar job last week (clutch imploded and we removed the box completely for the job) for a member on...

So, found myself wondering wtf a dephaser was and how it worked......

yeah, we never change it unless it's on it's way out or the customer specifically requests it. We have only ever experienced one car that needed another cambelt service post dephaser fail, and we sorted the chap out with a good price.
