Thanks for the replies everyone! My bank manager has advised me to save abit of money first:( Im currently paying £225 a month on a bank loan and he thinks anymore payments would be unwise at this stage. Thing is, i think i can afford it easy!

Well if Renault offer me £5000 for the Saxo ill be pleased. £7000 devided into 48 monthly payments is about £145 a month:D Big question though, Cup or 172??

I think i could get £5000 for the VTS, not sure, its a 2001 Y reg with 38,000 on the clock. Cant be arsed to save, i want a new Clio now!!

Apparantly it says in the Clio RSi brochure from Renault that it does 0-100 in 15 secs!! Where did this guy buy his Clio ??!!!!!!!!

Right people, i really want to get a 172 soon BUT i have a bank loan which isnt payed off. I own the VTS and its all payed off. Advice would be welcomed. Which route should i go down?

Id say between the 16v and 106 GTi its very even. The Williams has the edge over the 106 but not the valver.

172 PS is 170 bhp.

VTR is £9995 new and VTS is £11995 new. But i think production stopped this month due to the appaling C2 going on sale.

Ive driven a MK1 172 which was X reg and when accelerating the exhaust rattled like f**k! I have also driven a 172 Cup twice. Loved the Cup.

No i wasnt at York mate, abit far for me cos i live in Oxfordshire. My VTS is black like Craggys. Kefkef, the problem with your VTS was the engine mangement system. Its a common fault on 106s and Saxos, did it stall at junctions and traffic lights? Just needed taking to your dealer and...

Im not being a baby. Just dont wanna spend £12,995 on a car thats in and out of the garage! Ive had two Saxos, a VTR and a VTS and had not one problem with them.

Hey Vestan, did you buy your Cup from Renault on the Oxford Motor Park in Kidlington?? I test drove a Cup there.

I really fancied a 172 or Cup but having read the horror stories on here i dont think i should risk it now. Saxos are susposed to have poor build quality but we dont get half the complaints on our forum like on here about knocking noises and such. Every 172/Cup owner on here seems pissed off...

My VTS is plenty fast enough for me, just keep it in the power band. Cup has lots more pull low down though.

To be honest i didnt notice any difference between the Cup and my VTS until after 80 mph. The in gear pull is furious though, stacks of torque.

My knob was abit stiff too! It will soon losen up though! Gentle strokes are required at first!!!!!! :p
