mine threw up an error on the ecu (toxic emissions light on dash) but someone who knows what they are doing can erase the fault and turn the light off.
Gains you a few bhp & a bit of torque, throttle response seems to pick up a touch quicker

I've never had the banging that you complain about, but I used to have the wheelspin in 1st and 2nd gear.. I found that changing my tyres to Uniroyal rainsport improved traction no end..
