    Tim's Trophy - #455

A couple of small upgrades to #455 were added this weekend, courtesy of Budgie/Failsport. First up, a pair of Xenon headlights, something I've wanted for some time now but I've only just got round to sourcing some. I don't anticipate needing to use them for a while yet but I'm pleased they're...

Upgrade to 6.5in - it'll be worth it. It's been covered a lot, check it in the search functionality

    2 dyno's 2 different readouts

Plus if you take it to Mike @ S&MWM you can have it on Surrey Rolling Road's dyno. It's independent and Charlie is well respected! Kyle - you know it makes sense, especially given some of the potentially worrying mapping issues seen on cars similar to yours, if you know what I mean. Checking...

The perfect fast road set up for a clio 1*2??

OP - is this a hypothetical question, or do you have £6k to burn on a RenaultSport Clio you already own?

If you're looking for alternative styles doesn't the Lotus Exige also have a roof scoop?

Removing decals from 2118s - tips & advice

Nope - it's out on loan at the mo but with only 1 set out of 8 done so far, and an aching hand/wrist (more so than usual) I'll definitely be trying that method on the remaining 7 prints. Cheers fella

Removing decals from 2118s - tips & advice

Today's update - it's not a sticker at all, as Meek quite rightly stated, it's just printed on top of the lacquer. As a result I've shifted it using SRP and a lot of elbow grease!

should i be beating a newer shape type r?

What speeds do you reckon you were getting up to before you had to brake? Personally I reckon you should have smoked him. Ever thought of some driver training, I'm sure there are some schools out there that specialise in urban driving skills - standing starts being their USP.

Removing decals from 2118s - tips & advice

A little update - I've tried using clay for a minute or two on a small section of the logo and the clay instantly turned blue, which suggests to me that there is no lacquer covering the printed-on graphic. When I've got some more time I'll carry on with the clay but are there any other products...

    My RS2'd RB van

That standard exhaust looks comically small & pea-shooter-like. Otherwise, great colour, great plans, great price... result!

Removing decals from 2118s - tips & advice

I'll assume they've been lacquered over at the factory, does that rather limit the options?

I haven't, no. These are box fresh wheels too btw, in case that makes a difference.

    Le Mans 2014

I'll be there, and I quite fancy taking the Trophy, but equally considering something with significantly better load-carrying ability. Anyone done the Portsmouth-Le Havre or Poole-Caen route? Significantly less driving to be done but more expensive. Is it worth it...?

Removing decals from 2118s - tips & advice

Tardis hasn't made any impression whatsoever. Doused kitchen roll in it and left it to soak the decal for quite some time, but no joy. Any alternative suggestions?

Yoko AD08's vs Toyo R1-R's for road/wet track days.

Cheers James but I'm not sure I'm ready to run 888s as a road tyre with the occasional track day thrown in every year ;)

Yoko AD08's vs Toyo R1-R's for road/wet track days.

While I appreciate the R1-R is a very well-reviewed tyre, I get the impression it's best application is in wet weather, and using it on track in the dry may result in heavy wear or damage. Wanting a tyre for 90% dry running, from what I've read the AD08(/R) or RS-R are better suited to the task...

Yoko AD08's vs Toyo R1-R's for road/wet track days.

I just spoke to Camskill and they predicted end of August for the first batch, but they didn't have any pricing information. Meanwhile all stocks of the current AD08 tyre will be ever-decreasing. Do I wait for the new 'R' only to find out it's £30 dearer a corner, or just get on board with the...

Yoko AD08's vs Toyo R1-R's for road/wet track days.

Does anyone happen to know when the new AD08R will be available to buy in the UK?

Yoko AD08's vs Toyo R1-R's for road/wet track days.

Research continues, no decisions made as yet but at this very second I'm leaning towards AD08s. In 5 seconds that will probably have changed twice though - damn, I hate being indecisive! I cover about 3,000 miles a year.

Yoko AD08's vs Toyo R1-R's for road/wet track days.

For many I suppose you're right but doing the mileage I do I'd be prepared to buy new tyres every couple of years. If I went down the AD08s route they'd last 4-5 years, so I'd be happy to sacrifice a little longevity for increased performance, assuming R1-Rs do indeed offer that over AD08s.

    Improvement suggestions please..

    Still got them? :dapprove:

Yoko AD08's vs Toyo R1-R's for road/wet track days.

Why's that, Mike, do you not think R1-Rs are suitable for road use? How so?
