Earlier this week I took my Trophy to Nick at Detail My Car in Newbury (www.DetailMyCar.co.uk).
It went in with the paint looking quite dull, significant tree sap build-up and a few (recent) bird bombs, a heavily stone-chipped bonnet with some further chips at various places on the bodywork...
Maybe it wouldn't decrease the value but it might restrict your target market - a little or a lot, who knows? That in turn might force you to lower the price if it didn't sell.
Would it increase value? No, IMO it would not.

Unfortunately I don't have any decent photos yet because I've only just picked up the car this morning, but yesterday #455 spent the day with Detail My Car. It was treated to a full enhancement detail and sealed with CarPro CQuartz Finest then Reload on top. I'm so impressed with the results...

The alternative - upgrade each year from 1.2 to 1.4, then to 1.6 the following year etc etc. By the time you're 40 you'll be in a 5.0L V8.
You might be better off posting in the relevant local section, assuming you want to travel down with people from your region? If you're in Cornwall but don't mind travelling up to Birmingham to convoy down with the Midlands lot then ignore my comment.
