I'm running ET35 with 10mm spacers and 10mm extra track from the Cup subframe. I'll be going another 5mm wider with the roll centre kit so that'll be ET35 +25. I've got 205/50/15.
I'm getting some AST coilovers soon and with the rear being a full coilover I was considering getting the PMS rear beam kit.
The questions I have are:-
Is it worth it?
Do I need it?
I use the car on track and I'm looking to start competing next year, I won't be racing but I'm going to start...
I'd say it probably won't function any better than a standard one, they are both sport cats. So if the Ktec one doesn't work then you won't notice putting a standard one back on :)
Are you sure the cat isn't working? You might have a different problem, I.E faulty lambda, faulty injector etc.
Top one looks like a Ktec one. I've got a 200 cell Ktec cat for my 182 manifold to 172 exhaust and it passes the MOT fine (mine also has cams and ITBs), just warm the car up first then take it.
Doing some MSc work at the moment so it gives me a 5 minute break from that :)
I forgot to say with the above a shorter final drive gives more torque at the wheels.
OZ F1s are 7.7kg.
It effectively gives a shorter final drive of 0.10. E.G the Ph2 final is 4.07 and the Ph1 is 3.89. You fit 16s rather than 15s to a Ph2 and it effectively makes it 3.97 rather than 4.07. But if you put a Ph2 final drive on a Ph1 it would be 4.07. Similarly if you put 16s on a...
In the wet they are brilliant. In the dry they need a lot of camber and stiff suspension because they suffer with the body roll on the front of the Clio. Great tyre for the money though.
They're half the price of most other track tyres but the others aren't twice as good ;) they're good on the...
How did you find the ASTs on the ring Joe? Have you still got the Whiteline rear ARB fitted? I'm tempted to sell mine when I get the ASTs but I suppose it retains some adjustment when extra rear roll stiffness is required.
On Wednesday @Chi @minto and @cairnsie_cup and I went on a trip to Anglesey circuit. Although Ian and Craig's journey was about 300 miles more than mine!
So I rocked up with 10 minutes to spare with my wife's support vehicle in tow. The others had sorted a garage ready :)
Got a quick pic...
I've seen back to back tests with and without a sports cat (182 has a sports cat as standard), it's around 2bhp difference. I wouldn't bother with a decat.
However the standard cat does have a restriction at the olive joint and some people sleeve this section. Search 182 cat mod
Looking at getting a set for the Clio to do track days. I had a set on my last car and they were a brilliant tyre, I ran the H1 (hard) compound so it took a few laps to get them up to temp before they really started to shine.
On the Clio I've got a choice of 195/50-R15 in medium or 205/50-R15...
