    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

Far chunkier, and much more sculpted to grip, material is a lot 'cooler' to hold, not sticky/tacky like the old wheel. Its also nearer the driver by about an inch which allows the seating position to change for the better - lovely tbh :) As above, give us a week or so ok :)

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

Correct. Nope - modifying the wiring/connectors in any form is just not good enough for an airbag.

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

Finished today and tested for an hour or so to ensure everything was ok electronically. More details will be made avaliable in the next week if it becomes viable :)

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

You've answered your own question matey! You've essentially modified the clip to force it into a coupling it was not designed for, granted its a small adjustment but it is still different in fit & colour.

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

Nope, different plugs on the secondary fitting.

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

Fiddly, along with the CC functions etc took a few hours to get right. We have a solution that we are happy with; airbag charge/circuit is all functioning perfectly. Need to validate some more details before even considering making it marketable. :)

    Yup, all working ;)

    Smoothed airbox, anyone tried it?

The theory behind what you are looking at is in fact sound. The ridges in the airbox are predominately to reduce noise, as well as provide strength. I'd be surprised if it had any real effect however.

    Bent the flamer!

Pretty nasty mate, hope you get it sorted ok. A similar thing happened to someone I know, the handbrake let go on an Espace as the rear brakes cooled and contracted and it rolled down a hill and into some poor sods dining room! As a result of that I always put my car in gear when I park it...

Nah pull your finger out, everyone else apart from me is frankly rubbish :rasp: Its more about the giggles and having a run around that proving you are ready for a career in the game :)

    Speedo and Sound Video

tbh I think you guys are over analysing this a bit (you included adam ;)) Watch the vid, from 40mph upwards that car is quick end of. I'd like to see it go further, but you probably ran out of runway by then...

    Wheel Spacers on Ph1

Not sure if I used the correct terminology. There are two types; A & B = B uses bolts to secure the spacer on the hub, then a set of 4 new threaded holes with stainless steel shims for the wheel to secure into. A is as above, hub centric, but only with longer wheel bolts.

    Wheel Spacers on Ph1

God dam. I wouldn't hang a wheel on that, they are not even fully hubcentric - just use longer wheel bolts.

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

I wouldn't be able to comment mate, never examined a PH1 steering hub closely - its it different?
  22. Tom@JMS

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

Well yes, but it would look a bit strange, and I for one would never fit an airbag less steering wheel in a car without harnesses. Sorry for coming across that way, I wasn't aware that I was?

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

Sorry guys I really can't help either way. Its not about believing or realising anything as the 197 wheel on my car fits, turns resistance free and operates the cruise control etc, last step is the airbag and we're home. Obviously I can't comment on what you have done / haven't done without...

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

I think its safe to assume then that the depth of the 200 wheel fittings may well be different in that case. You mention you don't believe this is the case, but unless you have examined the two then there is really no way to tell.

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

Hi Jamie, no need to realise anything as I can ensure it does work as I have just returned from Brighton in the car, it fits perfectly well and has non of the symptoms you are experiencing?

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

We haven't done anything, the 197 wheel is a straight fit spline & depth wise, the only rubbing is ever so slight between the steering column surround & the back of the wheel, buts its only just audible, you can't feel it. We hope to be able to offer this as a service, but we need to ensure the...

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

Yes, £18.00 from the dealership, although every wheel bought separately comes with one. Its only held on with a screw and is very easy to remove if you did not want it.

Which Induction Kit Should I buy?

Just to clarify lee; the above work was present on the car before AND after the kit was fitted (in other words the base line was achieved with all of the above and a standard airbox, they were not added in between testing.) One important thing to consider is that they may however make the car...

    197 Wheel Vs 182 content

This is a very good point and something that we will look into carefully, if it means deploying a MK2 airbag, then deploying a MK3 to see if the conditions are the same then so be it.
