Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6
I'd be all over TomTom on the iPhone if it continued to navigate when a call came in, but it won't, so it's usefulness is limited.
You can guarantee that just as you come to a set of junctions, somebody will call you.
Re: iphone appstore must haves?
I wouldn't hold my breath for an official MSN client. This would require the MSN servers to support a keep-alive (i.e log me in and don't log me out until I tell you that I want to log out) and support for pushing messages, I can't really see MS having any...

You see who left you messages in a list, you just click on the message to play it.
No more "First message received on...Press 1 for next message, Press 3 to delete... etc

Visual voicemail rocks.
During the beta period mine pretty much just stopped working, using "olde stylee" voicemail just sucks ass, big style.
Re: iphone appstore must haves?
I only installed it this morning when I found the invite in my inbox, I will have a play with it later on tonight.
I didn't expect the redemption code to work as the last one (the AP app)was only for the US, but was surprised when it worked this time around.
Nope, they've built it in on the new model and therefore increased the amount of volume for actual battery (rather than battery enclosure) and that's had an increase on battery runtime.

If you lose your phone and subscribe to mobileme, then you can locate your phone on a map, send a message (with optional sound) to ask somebody to return it and also the ability to remote wipe it.
Oh yes. I love it when people go on about it being massive, maybe the "haterz" all have hands the size of children because for me, it's just about perfect.
Nothing comes within a light year of the development tools either which doesn't mean a lot to the end user, but to developers it's a big...

Yeah, I couldn't cope without the unlimited text bolt on, they better not take it off my account!
Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6
result = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:@"Good Good."];
Add a proper sized keyboard into the mix to, I hate writing code on a laptop, sucks big style - I also prefer american apple keyboards too, mainly bcause '#' is accessible...

You do realise that the Enterprise programme is only for private in-company distribution?
Running Xcode on a 13" screen is nasty too, better add a f**k off cinema display to the list of things to wangle! lol
I've used it in the past to backup a commercial dvd without any problem, but I know they've removed decryption and forked it off to an external library, however, seeing as this is a home made dvd it's a moot point as it wont be encrypted anyway.
Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6
Depends on the App! Small apps, couple of MB, bigger apps tens of megabytes, in the grand scale of things, you're not going to fill it or come even close to filling it with normal apps/games.
My rule of thumb is always go for the...
Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6
Depends, if you're on 3G it's not bad - you have to look at the bigger picture though, if you're a business customer then £14 a month is a bargain over paying £10 each time you want to use the net in a hotel, if you travel a lot and...
Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6
Connect your iPhone to your Laptop (via Bluetooth or USB) and then surf the net using the iPhones data connection.
Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6
Mystery solved.
It does indeed have a GPS module in it.
Edit:
And the app is going to be available at the same time at the V3 firmware becomes available to the general public. The cradle will follow later.
Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6
The accessory protocol is not one of the things crippled though.
It's all conjecture though, what I can tell you though (from working in the electronics industry) is that if you don't need a component (no matter how big/small...
