    One question iPhone/iPT thread.

Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6 Right, had my detective hat on and I'm pretty sure that they're using a re-radiating antenna to boost the signal strength. Why do I believe this? Well... Note that it says iPhone 3G, if they'd integrated their own GPS receiver...

Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6 Me too. Its a pretty bizarre statement for them to make without giving detail, not quite sure why they didn't explain it more.

Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6 I'm not sure on that one, I think it's in regard to a comment made by an Apple suit way back at release of the 3G (Just like the myth about directional info being adding to the core location API now means that tomtom and others can...

Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6 Yeah, I wish they'd say just to satisfy my curiosity! Incidentally the video says something like "Drive, Call" etc which is a slightly interesting statement. I'd still like to know how incoming calls are handled.

Re: iPhone Software 3.0 - Out 17/6 & iPhone 3GS - Out 19/6 Or re-radiating antenna, that would be my guess.

    Apple WWDC '09

A developer can only push alerts to their own application, authenticity of the push is handled by using public key encryption. Delete an app from the phone and push alerts destined for that app will no longer display.

can anyone give me the rundown on mac minis?

Nope, you'd need a dual core for that.

    Mac advice

Yeah, it doesn't support video chat, I'd just switch to aMSN if I needed to webcam and use adium the rest of the time as aMSN is poop! Transmission is deffo the software to use for torrents.

20 minutes to click preferences/file sharing/smb? Wow! Lol And to the person using aMSN, do yourself a favour and install adium!

    Omnia HD, is out.

Dunno about you lot complaining about the size of the iPhone, you must have a head and hands the size of a small child if an iPhone is massive. Fiddly tiny s**t FTL.

Re: iPhone Software 3.0 Discussion (New hardware Expected 9/6/2009) Good good, out of interest did you get the pink connect to iTunes display? They've cocked up the messages input box, when it's fully extended now it types and the bottom of the text is cut off, you can scroll it back but...

Re: iPhone Software 3.0 Discussion (New hardware Expected 9/6/2009) No. He'd be personally beaton to death by Steve Jobs if he were to much as breathe a word about anything. Only thing I know is that he's been in china for the past couple of months.

Re: iPhone Software 3.0 Discussion (New hardware Expected 9/6/2009) I know somebody who knows.... Although even after the 3G was announced (and he came back over here for a holiday), he wasn't allowed to let anybody photograph or touch it though.

Re: iPhone Software 3.0 Discussion (New hardware Expected 9/6/2009) Mine wouldn't activate without the new beta, I tried updating with the previous iTunes and the phone just came up with an error when rebooting in iTunes and just hung everytime I tried to start it, the pink "connect your...

    usb hasp key

HASP is the only third party copy protection software I'd use on software (if we didn't use our own dongle that is) as it's very good at what it does, there's a reason that high end software packages tend to stick to using HASP protection.

    Anyone got a macbook?

I wouldn't want to be running logic or anything similar on a 13" screen, so you made a sensible choice by not going for it. Firepod is nice too.

    Powerline Network Adapters

Given the feedback on that eBay user I'd suspect that if you'd won that auction you'd have won a big bag of nothingness. I do however agree, the comtrend powerline adaptors are good (the ones that BT supply) and are generally gettable from eBay at around the 30 quid mark.

    SKY HD, whos got it?

720p or 1080i depending on the broadcaster. Sky sports is 720p, documentaries tend to be 1080i.

    SKY HD, whos got it?

There's an option in the settings on Sky+/HD boxes to manually adjust the audio delay to compensate for this.

    TomTom on iPhone

Yes, but not for applications built using the standard public SDK. They're not priviledged enough.

    TomTom on iPhone

Because without it if you get a call it'll exit the navigation application, which is about as useful in terms of navigation as a chocolate teapot.

    TomTom on iPhone

It's utterly useless without background applications though. There's no issue with speed either, gps has an update rate of 1hz anyway, I think people have taken some random comment from some suit wearer at apple prior to the 3g release and have taken it to heart.
