    Welshname's Monaco 172

So. There are zero pictures but everything is up and running. It's been a long weekend but it's paid off. Massive thanks to Jon.G JoeyD and Jonff for their help, would have been very stuck without more than one pair of hands. Also cheers to Scrooge for some on the phone help even though...

Yeah, that headlight is faded badly. Needs a lot of correction tbf but that comes after it can be driven again.

FLOL! Forgot you two pikeys got your hands on the headlights. Like I said, I was going to do them as soon as I picked the car up but it was late and I was tired so hadn't bothered yet. Cheers for your help today. I'd have been screwed without a second pair of hands.

Too right. I'm just getting these done along with the PAS to get it on the road. In a week it'll be getting a full service. Swapped the gearbox too, and the subframe, and the engine, and the car...

    Welshname's Monaco 172

Cheers. It looks like a shed on my drive, but I promise it's pretty clean FLOL!

    Welshname's Monaco 172

Yeah. Joey is just being paranoid. He spent all day going "oh dear" whenever a bolt was touched. And yeah it's low. Going to flush it in a week or two anyway so I'll probably just top it up with water for now. Tomorrow I'll get the aux done and refil the PAS system and see how we get on...

A new back after tonight. In agony lol! Think that's everything tbh. Drop me a text in the morning when you're free. I'll probably be making a start on getting the old belt, tensioners and pulleys off tbh.

    Welshname's Monaco 172

Got on with stripping the rest of bits down tonight. Pas pump off and swapped over (took over an hour just to get that done, was a nightmare to get off, then a nightmare to get back on.) Took ages and ages to get the new one on until I realised if I put the top bolt in I could tap it round...

    Welshname's Monaco 172

Nah, just the PAS Pump. It's perfectly fine and if it gets noisy or starts leaking £54 for the whole aux setup again isn't the end of the world.

I will compression test it at some point but tbh it'll make no difference, if it's shagged I'm not rebuilding it, it'll just get swapped when it goes. And yeah that sounds good for oulton. I've driven further FLOL. Picked the fiesta up from Woking. But it needs belts yeah but it's been well...

Will do. And even if I don't go on track I'll venture up to the day at Oulton.

LOL. Cheers Oli. I might see if I can make that day actually. It'll be more than ready by then :) But yeah I'll be down t'unit at some point in summer, probably a couple of times tbh so I'll no doubt see you there.

Cub's Flamer - Supercharged, Cage etc

Re: 'Cub's Trackday Flamer - Cage etc' That looks incredible, Oli. Absolutely love it, you'll have to make sure you get over to the unit when I go down again in summer. On a side note can you not fit the standard gaiter back over the PMS shifter? Would just finish it off.

    Welshname's Monaco 172

Tonight I decided to start stripping down the front end ready for the belt change at weekend. The weather is forecast to be pretty poor on and off so I want to make the most of the good bits of weather to be doing the important stuff. Started by getting the front bumper off (which took an...

100% worth the wait. Just in the process of stripping everything down to do the belts when they arrive. Saves messing around when I could be doing more important stuff on the car. Currently being dicked by the bolt behind the archliner trying to get the front bumper off

Will do. I haven't driven the car since I got it home. Keep getting ready to go to work in the morning and looking at both sets of keys before being sensible and taking the 1.2 :(

Thanks, yeah I was very happy with the price tbh. And I'm not entirely sure. I'm thinking I'll probably go for turini's and a subtle drop (more than likely on coilovers though). Ibstock is properly the arse end of nowhere. He lives about 30 seconds from a BP Garage if that helps you figure...

    Welshname's Monaco 172

So nearly 4 years after joining I've finally got myself a 172 in Monaco. For now this thread will be just full of general maintenance crap and nothing that interesting. So to start I went to view the car on Sunday in Ibstock (220 mile round trip) and didn't have much hope for it as I've seen a...
