What are you thinking of using in the Gilmour? SSF is a favourite, here is a picture of mine using the SSF.

It's fine to use hte Gilmour on a hose with a hozelock connection, this is what I use with mine. The pressure shouldn't be an issue, any normal outside tap should be fine. Another product to consider if you find the Gilmour too expensive is the SuperSpray, it's only about a tenner with...

How do you mean too wet? The more lube the better really as it prevents problems like people have shown on here before.
