More s**t, just pulled the plugs out and popped a bore scope down there, OEM f**king pistons lol.
Oh and the state of them is comedy! the plugs were.. urm intresting too!

So it leaves me with
1- gets me a rock solid high comp engine (5-8hp more) but it is £1200 more (minium)
2- gets me the car back running as-was! still got the high flow head, camps , boddies, will swap the fly wheel etc. The BE should be fine as ive got a...
The only part that worries my about option 3 is it's been runnin with that map for so long it's going to be sooooo fucked. It's been pissing oil all over the Scottish lot since gdi re built it!
I think it would run sweet with option two, if certain people havnt messed with then the BEs are good and solid! The ARPs will hold the rods true and if the map is right then it shouldn't f**k up.
Option one gets me high comp and fresh BE but it's 700 more!
Okay, I've weighed up my options with the engine. I've split them into four different options:
Option 1 -
£200 short motor purchase (will be a straight bottom end)
£500 short motor rebuild (tri-metal big end bearings etc)
£150 head rebuild
£500 high comp pistons
£80 ARP big end bolts
£100...
loosen the 4 16mm bolts on the lefthand side,
use a bar to push the engine forward (towards the headlights) it should move around 20mm
then tighten the 4 16mm bolts back up night and tight.

rasing CR to 12.6:1 boring to 83.0mm.
I want to hit 240 tbh, the head will get a full gas flow, getting the crank and fly balenced/lightend etc.
What do I need to hit 240?
Well no, the cams are 428s
So I think peak power is around 7700-7800? no?
I just put 8k as a max! If the oem rods (with ARP big end bolts) will hold at that then thats good news..
I was going to change to 422's but i just cant be arsed spending the 700quid.. when the 428s are not that far...
I'm changing the pistons in my engine to high comp, but I'm still debaiting weather or not to fit forged rods!
I plan to fit ARP bolts anyway on the big ends! Will be reving to 8000rpm.
Worth the outlay (new there £450) ? Or will the OEM hold it?
