Just a quick write up today - more pics, fewer words :)
I spent today tidying up a mates' Clio R27 and Megane R26. The Clio was treated to Lime Prime and Supernatural. The Megane was corrected by me recently, so it was just quickly cleaned and the protection was topped up with Dodo Red...
Anyone who knows their stuff? Clearly Kev and I are clueless then?
Dom wouldn't sell as many pots of Supernatural as he has if it was so "pisch", would he?
Onyx is average at best - entry level wax, like Zymol Carbon - the SN nails them both.
If you want a premium brand splash the cash...
It really does depend on who does it, how bad the paint is, what the car is, which wax etc you want, but for an "enthusiast" (so non full time) I'd expect to pay £100ish, depending on area. It generally takes about 6-8 hours, so the hourly rate is very reasonable given the cost of the equipment...
It's basically paint correction, so most/all of the defects in the clearcoat can be 'polished' back to remove these imperfections, and restore the true gloss and shine to the paint.
See 50/50 here:
Which gives you:
It's less obvious on some colours, but if you have red/dark car...
Today's detail saw me travel to Birmingham, to carry out a correction detail on a rather tasty red Mitsubishi Evo 8 FQ320.
Now, before I tackled this car, I spent some time looking over the various write ups on these beasts in the Showroom and Studio section, so was a little worried to see...
If you're spending that kind of money get the Chicago or pay a bit more and get the Festool... Makita is no lighter or better than the Kestrel, as Matt says.
Mine has started from nowhere in the past week or so.
There's a sound young lad at Renault Wolverhampton who is very useful, so I'll go and see him. They have agreed to replace my Recaro recently too...
I do wonder what kind of state these cars will be in, in 5 years time!!
Via Rotary, with the right technique, on light marring/swirling, it's perfect.
I did a Glacier R26 recently and that needed the big guns - Megs 105 and a 3M Green Pad.
I really depends on the condition of the paint. It did seem softer on the Clio though...
Cheers Steve :)
Thanks for your hospitality too, it was most appreciated. The pics are a little dark which is disappointing - how did yours turn out?
Thanks,
Russ.
Yeah, I'm going Britemax over winter too.
I LOVED 1000P on my old ST, but it does nothing for my R27... weird that.
The Dodo Pro waxes look promising too
The Menz pads do seem to wear quite quickly
Keep an eye out for Matt's new range coming soon - he sent me a couple to try out and they are s**t hot!!
Festool ftw ;)
Shock, horror! A RenaultSport and Dodo Juice detail today... again
This particular example was in superb condition, being less than a year old and having less than 5,000 miles on the clock.
On initial inspection, there was only some very light marring/swirling, and lots of...
