its actually built into the UCH - you have to replace the complete unit. Have you checked to see if there is a live feed from the wire connecting to the air con control ? does the control unit work ?

Dont ever jump start 172's - my guess is a blown fuse / relay are worst case scenario the UCH control unit

common fault on mk1 172 clios and standard 98 - 2000 models. Renault actually did a re-call on these as the metal cables fray causing them splines to stick into the outer plastic casing giving a sticking effect. This eventually leads to the cable snapping. tech note 4077D

Take the o/s/f wheel off and try to turn the flywheel manually with a ratchet / wrench. Let it cool down 1st as sometimes engines sieze when there hot - it may free off when cool depending on the damage really. If you need an engine ive loads in stock mate - will need your reg

Pull the mirror / glass out as its only held on by a circular clip - then power wash it out.

Check to see if the breather casing at the top of the engine is cracked - sometimes the bolts holding the rocker cover on / oilbreather casing can come loose and cause that fault

I just blow them out with an airline - dont need to change them.
