It's too heavy. It's also too heavy, whilst being a bit too heavy.
I do like the 197 Cup as its a bit trick, but im currently gettin 44mpg out of my Cup at the moment and im not really much slower.
Thats a rediculous reason to fail a car on an MOT. The lights work, correct??
Who the hell ever turns their lights on then off then back on again???
Was this Renault doing the MOT per chance?
Is the cure to remove the offending bolts and re-seal them?
If so, does anyone have a guide of any sort and which type of sealant (i.e brand, type) should be used?

Amen to that! See i always knew a Cup was the one to have......lightweight is the way forward...especially nowdays!
I love seeing 40mpg even after a good ragging...:approve:
Tonight on the hack home at about 5.15pm, spotted a Trophy and shortly after a RB 182 with stripes, both heading from Jacobs Well towards the A3 slip at Burpham.
Cheek! I honestly don't remember seeing anyone stood there! Shame on me.....i was busy talking to my old boss at the time....putting the world to rights and all that.
I work for Bell & Colvill so yeah fairly local. I don't usually go in there but it was a leaving drink for someone i work for.
Wasn't aware of you taking a picture behind me....thats me standing there in front of it!
We recently sold an Exige S to a guy who was planning to put in a compact supercharged V8 of his own design built by Roush.
Bench dyno'd at over 400bhp with the potential for 500 upwards...in a car weighing under a ton!! Madness.
Im hoping to have a go when he brings it back after the work is...
Wouldn't surprise me. So basically the shim sits inside the existing metal sleeve and prevents any excess movement correct?
What does shortening the sleeve do?
Well i've got a similar amount of play in my top mount assembly. I keep meaning to replace them....i've had enough bloody chances to...the struts have been off about 3 times in the past year or so!
This might be a less costly solution!
I think it was prob me who said you need spring compressors. I just found they make re-assembling the shock much easier if you are doing the job alone!
Trying to get the compression nut on is a bugger when you are on your own if you don't make sure the shock doesn't keep sinking down!
I very nearly opted to keep mine in this kind of state...i.e showroom spec but have now gone the other way and decided to lose half the interior!
Fair play to you mate....look forward to seeing more progress!
The rear seats have been taken out the cup along with the isofix bar and the seat belt buckles.
Had a quick look at taking the belt reels out but they appear to be plugged in to something.
Surely these aren't pretensioned as well?
If not, what is the cable for and if its all disconnected will...
5w 40 is indeed the right oil....obviously the quality can vary but generally any of the well known brands will be sufficient.
But if its sounding like a diesel....well...i'd be a tad concerned that something internal isn't happy.
Is it down on power/smoking/etc?
