smooth/colour code the door strips and handles and loose the front diamond and finish the mesh work would help it.......
the panel gaps look good for a fibre glass kit, like the colour combo too!!
if i was in the market for one then i would be happy to pay a premium for one thats had the belts/dampers done, but like you say average joe hasnt got a b*****d clue what its about so just looks over priced red 182.
its a wise move if the standards are no good for you but if the cobras are worse you should be able to sell them on and put the money into suspension/breathing mods
1.3 gt engine on carbs should make good power and be pretty brisk in a mk1........

im not a massive fan of reps but they seem to hold there money ie the 1200 or so you put into it i would expect you to get at least 75% of it back when selling.
if it was mine i would be putting standard bumpers on, taking off the skirts and finish of the interior but thats cos i like the oe...
measure the tyre to arch gap at your ideal ride height, that will tell you what size spacers you need. in other words get the suspension set up how you want first as not everyone has the same set up so its no good asking anyone else........

you wont be able to go lower as it still mounts in the same way/at the same height but by the looks of it you have alot more adjustability with the ast's!!!
is your car standard?? you will have to think about other upgrades you will need, not just a case if 3k turbo kit and bolt on, need exhaust, good brakes and suspension ect..
renaults list price for a non met 133 cup is £12k on the road. if i walked into renault 2moz bet i could get one for 10k. got even better chance if you have cash/scrappage car.
