have you tried tightening the rocker bolts? as Cro mentioned, check the seal on the solinoid. Might need replacing. It doesn't look like a major leak though, so it wouldn't account for the high oil usage really.

you might have got the pad too wet. The key is not to use too much polish also otherwise the pad absorbs too much and remains too damp. Priming it as you mentioned is a good idea. An initial spritz with water/detailer is fine, but after that water application should be minimal. That's the way I...
