I left Clio ownership thinking the running costs were too high... spent 3 months with a 1.8T VW and now I'm back with a Cup.
For the performance you get, the economy is actually very good.
There's something you can do with the door lock/unlock that sorts it out. It just means the immobiliser has been activated and needs deactivating... not a Renault £150 job!
I noticed it stopping in traffic today, but the intermittent thing is more a case of wiping too often for some reason... and I've not gone one of those ^
I has that stalk, so I can adjust the speed of the intermittent, but it still seems to wipe at a random, changing speed. It will generally follow the speed that I've set it at, but it will also through in some random wipes that don't follow the speed it should be!
I'll only ever use a pressure washer on wheels and underneath / arches now, I had a chip on the front of the ph1 and a blast from the hose made it a lot bigger!
... they're not rain sensitive are they?
I only ask as the intermittent feature doesn't seem to wipe at regular intervals, more like: wipe....wipe, wipe, wipe..............wipe.....wipe.........................wipe, wipe.........wipe...
You get the idea.
Cheers dudes, there were 90 of these registered in the UK. Since they were made in Autumn (ish) of 2003, there's been 5 winters for the annual Cup-cull to take place... so there's probably about 60 left!
Cheers mini, I most certainly do intend to keep her clean and tidy... starting with a...
I does feel it mate, but I think it might be because I think the cup's had an easy life so far and hasn't really been driven hard, so everything feels nice and tight and new. Probably means it's not as quick, but I do like the feel of everything.
I bought the ph1 from a guy who enjoyed his...
Hilarious thread.... the best bit being on page 5 when someone reckons that the "Clio Sport" came with three different engine versions... a 1.4 8v, 2.0 16v and "another one".
Miss my Ph1, but am already loving the Cup and can see glimpses of the Ph1 in it, albeit probably better. Much tighter, planted and more 'solid', although throttle response leaves a bit to be desired...
Lol, dude, you promised to cure my numb arse...
Stupid thing is, Cups seem to command more than FF's now.
And, yeah, I thought I was over my "deriving excitement from driving" phase... turns out I was wrong! Still, sold the Golf for what I paid for it so can't complain!
Most French-style (and German...) are made in the font that those countries use for their plates, which is what stands out, but I think it's a mixture of the font, the logo use (must be Euro, or British I think) and that the pressed metal plates aren't reflective as well.
Ali, is 84mm the height of the actual number plate 'space' on the bumper of the 172 too? The thin plates everyone seems to be getting at the moment...?
Aye, claying is very easy and I don't think the Megs clay is very abrasive.
I just wash a panel and then re-wash with clay. It keeps everything soaking wet and avoids marring. Definitely worth doing, especially on silver IMO, as every little spot looks so obvious once the rest of the paint is...
Carnuba wax will improve the gloss, but IMO doesn't really make silver look any 'nicer', just different. I've found EGP to help bring the flake out, whereas wax mutes the flake but makes it nice and glossy.
I've not bothered replacing my P21 since that ran out and will just stick to layering...
Sounds good mate, although I'd recommend getting a quick-clay kit as well. Tar remover followed up by a claying all over should get that paintwork silky smooth!
I couldn't see any obvious leaks when my radiator had cracked until I took it to a garage and they applied some pressure to it... came flooding out!
If it's recently been replaced, then possibly the levels haven't been topped up properly, or a connection isn't correct somewhere?
If you're...
Cheers guys.
Not sure mate, only realised that the blue ones didn't this morning... will have a closer look. I'd say they aren't obviously not lacquered, but that's probably due to the colour hiding it better.
Nah, mine's a real Cup ;) Although I wouldn't have turned it away if it did have CC!
The ph2 172's are all Iceberg B16 DOE, ph1 172's and the 182's are Titanium.
