there is a knocking when turning. Not sure if thats the strut tops or the cv joint.

cool. :D I have already repacked the gaitor, the clip had broken off. I think it is the cv joint as I get a really bad vibration through the steering wheel, it is especially bad at 85/90 mph.

wheels are about 15kg, so I guesss a bonnet would be around the same weight.

I think its off a low mileage 182, plus looks ok from photos.

I think my cv joint has had it. Been offered a driveshaft for £50 for drivers side, is it easy to fit? Any special tools needed?

I need to get it serviced this week, so hope it goes away then. I noticed that it burnt most the oil in not many miles, now its not losing much at all. I think renault may have put thinner oil in, but since I have been topping up with 5w-40 its not losing as much.

Get near the limiter? If you mean do I hammer it all the way up the rev range on a daily basis that would be a big yes.
