It's easier to get them all done. Cambelt slightly early but if you have no concerns about the cost of having it done then go for it - won't do any harm and will certainly prevent the risk of it going snap early.
Yeah I think it is Middo, I like my dark wheels even more than I thought I would due to the black trim being kept really black to give a good contrast against the silver.
Ph2 strips colourcoded with dark 2.0litre badges would look strong I reckon, but it's whether you want to move away from...
Not sure what you've already checked, but have they suggested the crank sensor? Mine has a rare starting problem and that's what I've been told it is... approx £80 to repair.
The description seems pretty decent, though I'd imagine 'service history' means that it's not complete.
You want to make sure nothing big is going to go wrong in the short term, as £1-2k can easily be eaten up by a poorly looked after car. There's no way to guarantee this doesn't happen but...
Nothing too drastic it seems - 1 tyre to replace, exhaust mount, couple wiper blades. Advisory's on front pads and rear discs and pads, but new that already.
But, a minor oil leak from the engine, which is a bit of a worry and will be looked into further. :S
I await another phone call...
Lol, shouldn't be too bad as belts don't need doing...
If everything else is fine then it's pretty decent price, but it's the things that aren't fine! I'm already having to shell out £80 on top to sort out the intermittent starting problem...
Anyone else get a feeling of dread when they leave their car at a garage for a major service!?! :dapprove:
Just so many things that can be potentially wrong that you didn't know about!
Edde, would you recommend sticking to Renault OEM for these, for normal road use?
Mine need replacing soon but will upgrade if it's recommended. I'm on standard front discs and pads so imagine it would be best to keep the rears the same until the fronts are uprated...?
I think the colour would be great on a stealth project, but seem to stand out a bit. Might be because they're fresh and spotless so maybe shine a bit more than they will in time...
Pulled up alongside a silver Ph1 in Pembroke Dock Tesco's petrol station, looked very nice. :)
And then followed a Cup with aftermarket lights and exhaust most of the way home on the M5 - exchanged a thumbs up but don't know if he's on here...
The cambelt is loooong overdue if it hasn't already been done. I'd imagine it will have and, if so, it's worth checking if it was done a while ago. Most are done around 45-50k which would mean it's ideally due for another one to be on the safe side.
With slightly higher miles, I'd expect a...
But that's just like saying you'd rather say you have a Cossie than a Clio.
Talking to someone who knows nothing about cars, you'll get ribbed more for having a Clio than an Escort. And for those that know about cars, the Escort Cosworth is a cult classic.
I'd say it's much more obvious in the flesh than the photo's Chris, get 'em sprayed. :)
The fact they're already silver, you could probably do them yourself by flatting them back, sticking on a few Titanium Silver coats and then lacquering.
I like the idea of Ph2 black bumpstrips though...
Was thinking about this just yesterday actually. Driving up from Exeter to South Wales in busy M5/M4 traffic, and almost everything I ended up behind was making a point of finding a spot in the middle lane to pull into and let me past.
Out of the two, it'd be the Escort for me at the moment, but would have to be totally standard and mint. Give it 10 years and I'd probably prefer the Vee.
But, I have to say I'd rather the Delta Integrale as a true enthusiast weekend car over either of those.
If you clay your car over the next week or so then you really shouldn't need to do it again until March-ish. Throughout the Winter I'd imagine you want to build up a decent level of wax to protect the paint, so claying would negate all your hard work!
But, yeah, claying when wet is fine, all I...
Ah, fair enough, will see how it reacts after the next wash. I'm not particularly bothered about having a durable wax for the winter - was just wondering if the game has moved on fro P21s with all these new waxes that have emerged.
Did them myself... you can tell close up! I only really did it as there was some quite bad curbing that I needed to sort so decided to do it myself and then pay a professional if I cocked it up.
You're looking at about £200 for the set to get refurbed and sprayed - it's a bit far from you but...
The alloys are sprayed Peugeot Cossack Grey - one of the colours considered to be a close match for the Trophy Turini Anthracite.
She's on Eibach Pro's, which lowers it about a tenth of a millimetre, but improves handling over the standard springs a fair bit... feels a lot more chuckable than...
Pah ^ bloody newb's... ;)
EGP was probably a waste of time but she's looking lovely even after being driven in the rain today. I find the glaze gives it a much wetter look, what sealant would you recommend over the top of the VM Rich? Was thinking about the Optimum Spray Wax...
Also, running...
