As my understanding goes if your vehicle engine management system is equipped with knock sensors it will adjust the ignition timing accordingly for optimum performance. The knock sensors will tell the engine management that it can r****d the ignition further than with lower octane ratings...
Joef,
Get some axel stands and get your car jacked up safely, then under your car there you will see the oil sump (biggish tank under the car, directly under engine). Within that you will find a sump bolt (might be behind a plastic sump protector, but not sure on 1.2) which will require an 8mm...
Aye likes like the rods might be bent/obstructed and not allowing you to select the gear. Bit of a ballache, but you'll need your car up on ramps to check it out.
Not really a very good analogy there girl182, all petrol HAS to pass the correct specification in order to meet the regulations, so in effect its all good food as you say, and it won't actively attack your engine.
If your going down that route, then BP Ultimate is your best bet as afaik it has...
The diameter on the cat seems small? And is there only one hole on the cat as i thought there should be two (or is the first post on the manifold itself?)
Best of luck mate.
I don't know what it is about these fuel topics, but we really need a sticky or something, or to use the search facility. Every week someone posts their opinion on fuels, and it just opens the same old boring debate where some people claim to get 0-60 in 5 seconds using optimax, or that it runs...
Gear selector/rods f00ked?
Or your syncromesh isn't working as it should do?
When you say it won't go into 2nd at all, have you tried getting it into second with the engine off and just depressing the clutch?
Does it make a crunching sound when you try and get second? Does it just feel jammed?
Well put it this way, the oil you speak of is the only thing keeping your car working, its the one thing that stops metal-metal grinding at 7,000rpm. So in answer to your question, yes its important and yes it will make a nice difference to your car :)
Its a ince treat for it, now you just...
My old man just bought a Boxster S, and the insurance company are stating it isn't covered for theft if a tracker isn't fitted.
I've done a forum search and am aware of the RAC trackstar/Tracker products, but I was wondering if anybody knew of any online retailers for trackers around £300 or...
If it wasn't for the w**k joystick then the K750i would be an almost perfect phone, had joystick problems with T68i and T610 and now K750i...when will SE realise their joysticks are defective? :(
Its a b**ch to get to the sump plug though i thought, and when you undo the plug you SHOULD use a new washer and seal apparently. Also have to be very careful about the bearings me thinks.
Unless you've tuned your SV650 those times are way out mate!

Indeed, get someone to press the fast pedal while you stand under the bonnet looking at the throttle cable, unless of course you have electronic throttle control in which case thats pointless :)
Have you noticed you car using significantly more fuel than usual at all?
Use 75w-90 synthetic mate, Silkolene/Castrol they all produce that spec oil. The other point is if your not confident changing it yourself then personally unless you like to burn your money i wouldnt bother taking it to Renault, oil change is an oil change - find a cheap local specialist or...
I can keep ahead of my mate down a local B road, but towards the end of the road theres a 1/2 mile straight - where predicatably he destroys me. He rides a brand new Kawasaki ZX6-R though :)
I had this hole in my exhaust the other day, the reason the holes are so big is because that is where the back bracket before the backbox attachs to the exhaust. The bracket has rotted the metal, and after pulling the bracket out thats the hole it left. Amazingly i even got 46MPG with it blowing...
Just be careful on the roads...don't be trying to impress your mates in the first month or two of owning the car, particularly if your not familiar with a fast hatch. Great cars, great handling but they do have their limits, and until you recognise those limits - i personally would advise you to...
Thats not a cross-over jamesy, just a splitter. A cross-over will activelt split the signal frequency and delegate that to tweeter/mid. The standard setup will send a duplicate signal both high/low frequency to the tweeter (i.e not as good).
Ive sent the article to you fella, but do the club a...
I agree with all of the above, except the comment about removing flatspots. On the contrary they will introduce more flatspots unless you get it remapped because the fuelling and air/fuel ratio will be incorrect at certain speeds, this may mean your getting to much air and too little fuel which...
