Wahey! Welcome to the 172 club! I knew you'd go for it in the end....looks nice and tidy as well. You'll definitely have to come along to the Westerham meet now!
Fresh as in filthy you mean? Its just come back from Scotland after a week of driving it in pretty horrendous weather.
It looked dirtier than that but the wind and rain combined to make a kind of 80mph car wash yesterday on the drive back home!
Having been in Scotland for the week i've not had the chance to report any spots, but my god there are loads of you guys up North!
The day i got into Fort William (Sat 6th) i spotted a racing blue 182 in Morrisons car park.
Then in Inverness i spotted another Racing Blue 182 with white stripes...
I wish i had the plate. I've got an RF52 plate but it doesn't end in Cup unfortunately.
I did wonder why you pulled in then straight back out again. Never find myself thinking other Cup drivers are t***s mate!
Sounded pretty good i have to agree.
Thanks for the advice mate. I suppose i may have been overreacting just a touch!:o
Im gonna definitely check out that Real Food Cafe...sounds top notch!
Cheers Kiev and Iian as well. Top blokes. Appreciate the contact numbers!:approve:
True, but he may have one lying about...or even just a steelie to get me outta trouble. Either way, to be able to call on someone is pretty important IMO
Yeah i just checked it out on Metwatch and it looks like snow on Monday but then wet stuff Tuesday and Wednesday before a proper days worth of snow Thursday!
I predict the loss of lots of cars before the season is over, especally if people drive like numptys so im no worse off than anyone else in my opinion.
What snow next week? Im there from tomo until next Sat so i'll prob see some of that.
Great..the Mrs will be pleased....it'll look so pretty.
Think i'll be driving VERY carefully!
Its all good people. Kiev has very kindly lent me his number incase something dramatically goes wrong, and me the Southern Softy gets stuck in the wilderness! :dead:
Many thanks though people....and i think the RAC will be gettin a new member by the end of the month!
Well any number would be grand really..just be nice to know i could call on someone to lend me a wheel if it was needed! I'd obviously reimburse any petrol costs.
And yes, before you all get on at me as i'd expect, i know i should have looked into getting the AA or RAC for some breakdown...
No i don't have either unfortunately.
I know i'll live to regret it one day. I just hope its not anytime next week.
Can you call them out without having their cover? If so how much do they charge?
Shows how little i've looked into breakdown coverage.:S
I need a favour from anyone in the Glasgow or Inverness areas!
Im driving up to Fort William tomorrow and am staying near Fort William. Spean Bridge to be precise. But as my girlfriend an I are gonna be driving around quite alot, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to lend me their...
You are right mate, there is no real need to drain the reservoir, but it speeds up the process. It was the way i was taught anyways and i have been taught by Lotus techies so can't be too far wrong.
And yeah, 2 litres. One to flush thru and the other to renew the old stuff.
No pics but goes as so.
You will need the following:
2 litre bottles of dot 3 or 4 brake fluid,
An 8mm spanner with ring end,
A length of transparent narrow rubber tubing (approx 5mm width, similar to breather hose, to fit over bleed nipples)
A spray bottle
A mate or two!
The car in the air...
We have a proper oil drainer at work so it all goes in there.
Im always proper neurotic when it comes to working with the brake fluid..verging on OCD in fact!
I'll barely use a piece of cloth to mop up the stuff and it goes straight in the bin. Had a mechanic mate who managed to blow the fluid...
Hey, welcome to CS!
Im 6"4 and i fit pretty comfortably in my Cup. Seat should adjust downwards so you'll proabaly want it ALL the way down!
Just warn anyone attempting to sit behind you that they won't have legroom...at all!
Being a Cup with less sound deadening, it can be pretty noisy on...
Right now the car is cocked, locked and ready to attack those fantastic Scottish roads!:D
Have to say i found bleeding the system and renewing the fluid pretty easy! Helped having the right tools (vaccum pump for the bleed nipples and a four poster ramp) i suppose!
Anyone else done their own...
I've Google World-ed the route from Glasgow up to Spean Bridge and the route is truly epic.
Mostly Loch-side roads and mountain type passes.
Just hope things aren't too wet 'n' wild...wishful thinking i know.
