they sometimes use the same warning lamp but on newer cars where there is no pad wires then it would mean low fluid level which could be an indication of worn out pads.
alloy sumps dont normally crack unless they have been stressed(jacked up on or knocked on a speed hump etc).i would give it a clean off and keep an eye on it over the next few days.
maybe the light lenses have worked apart and allowing light into other lenses if you get what i mean.cant see it being an electrical problem due to it doesnt happen with your other lights(standard ones)

on an old clio rl its just a case of unbolting the exhaust and removing it.you will need to twist the back box as you remove it to get it past the rear axle(can be awkward but you will see what i mean).you will probably need new mounts and clamps.about an hour or so to remove and fit new one.
