Well I never knew that. Have to say I prefer the dark ones, but can't understand why they changed them either. For the sake of it proabaly.
If I bought a phase 1 RS and applied hondas theory there wouldn't be much Phase 1 left. lol.
Just to underline what has already been said, my mk2 172 had 3 trips to Renault for exhaust issues. Luckily the first two were inside 2 years - I had two centre sections in 12 months!!!
Last one came when getting the brakes done - Very friendly guy at a local garage pointed out how bad...
Still having problems with yours?
After owning a brand new one, it would hav to be something special to get me to buy a Renault without warranty. Great cars... but build/reliabilty etc - shocking.
Would be cool to have some kind of Clio-only day. Dunno how feasable it is though.
Would...
Hehe...
When is this day going to be? ... I'd quite like to watch!
Seeing as we're all driving Renno's, there should be a reliability index on how many breakdowns there are!! Law of averages says there has to be a least a couple!!
There's quite a bit of difference actually Jesus.
Chassis, Suspension, manifold, ECU.... all changed iirc.
It's on the original Renault blurb for it's release.... looking for it atm...
Good uns and bad uns. Sums it up.
I could pull a good distance on my mates missus' Gti ( was Yellow though so slower ;) )
Had a blast against a VTS ( I was 2 up and boot full of sh*te,car was cold too :o ) and I didn't pull anything noticeable on him below 100.
They're very capable...
It's a bit of a lotto really. As with any car there are good ones and bad ones. Judging by your time it would appear you got a good 106!
But there are Cups on here ( Chris n nic and neil82cup) who have decat, R-Sport and filter and both have run a 14.1. Neil has also had a 14.2 with a 100.7...
If it were me I would get a KTEC stealth or similar. The Renault exhaust is sh*te ( mine went twice in the space of two months!!) and is also pretty bloody expensive.
Might as well get a stainless one fitted with a lifetime guarantee as it will probablybe cheaper than buying a standard one.
Sounds similar to an incident I had, albeit at lower speeds but still bloody scary.
I was snaking down a slip road for about 30 metres - traction control light going bonkers bit of a wobble then the car just slowed and went straight.
It might be a pain when you pushing on or on a track but...
LOL... The 182's get all of the 172's problems as well as a few of thier own.:D
Let's hope the Mk3 is better in that respect, if nothing else...:dapprove: :dapprove:
I didn't know that about the arb, but I can definitely believe it.
The mk1 doesn't handle that badly imho, just the mk2 handles better.
The mk2 still has a fair amount of body roll, but i find it nicely progressive and I can feel the chassis loading up which is a bonus for a numpty like...
I hated the mk1 172 i drove. The way some people describe the handling on this site I'm beginning to wonder if I drove a bit of a dog. It was very soft and had tons of body roll. Turn in was sharp though, although I felt the mk2 was better overall.
The mk1 I drove seemed to have more of a...
I have custom exhaust, 2.25" bore and I can't say I've noticed a loss of torque since having it fitted, but have noticed a definite increase up high (4th gear).
I know it's less than the optional diameter for this engine but I couldn't bear it any louder than it already is!!!
