Tubs n Monk, sorry, It will not fit a valver - only the 172 mk1 and 2 f4r unit.
as for the conversion the guy quoted 3 grand for PLUS manifold.. AGHHHHHH..
but, there is quite a bit of work MAKING the parts..
172 owners are lucky in that RENO made them...
Simon.. Hi M8.
there are several planning a kit, but no-one doing it yet...
but, yes, its worth a shot..
As for me, I am luck (read DAFT ) enough to be able to do this myself.
Might even start selling kits eventually.. but they would be based on reno retail prices (as there is a VERY...
Hi Tim ..
this sort of work is a labour of love...
I would hate to price up fitting something like this - well , the fitting is simple when it bolts on like this .. getting it all to work properly with an aftermarket ecu or management add ons and eventually lower comp pistons is the hard...
Take a look at these pics, I just unloaded everything from the boot of the 172...
we are looking at a GENUINE renault turbo conversion for the 2ltr F4R engine (as used in 172)
I have decided NOT to go the Supercharge route.. simply because if you can get kit like this !!!... do it the EASY...

Hi Sir.
how would you define totally outhandles a 172 ???
I would have to disagree...
power, yes.. handling ??.. the 172 is pretty much at the top of the pile in standard form as most of the track results show.
Joe
Hi Dave.. which course have you done if you are looking to take another ??
seriously, the roadcraft manual (Institute of advanced driving bible) would actually dictate a double de-clutch in that circumstance. the ratio change from 2 - 1 is the worst for the box.. if you HAD to use a shift...
Hi Mark, there aint one made yet
re the brakes.. noise from brakes is almost always dust related..
remove wheels - use a face mask - then clean with a can of air duster (same as used for cleaning pc keyboards etc) or an airline.
the only thing you can do to our brakes are --
remove...
Hi Ben.. dont think it will make much difference ..
the changes to the mk2 172 (i beleive) were more in the area of the induction port runner length / diameter to improve torque.
ps, the other day you mentioned the superb, incredible and beautiful 4age toyo engine....
I love that...
Lol
Lofty, dont get me wrong.. the solid bushes reduce suspension movement thereby maintaining a constant geometry.
they are superb on race cars.
on the road, they transmit every bump, shock, force etc to the passenger cab making for a harsh and noisy drive.
it is almost always...
