Well I did the car on Monday, and it was a state! washing stages took an age and Tardis truly struggled and took some time before all tar deposits were gone. Strangely IronX lifted very little. I had a proper look round the car once fully cleaned and so many scratches and swirls I wasn't willing...
A full detail for £150 by a body shop or £500+ by a detailer? Is there any question. BWAB incorparated.
I became a BWAB on Monday and didn't enjoy one minute of it, was some satisfaction in the final results, but it's not my car so just wanted it finished. And it had been in the body shop for...
What is on the car at the moment, and how recently was it applied? As said EGP doesn't last long, so providing the car comes up spotless after a wash I'd recommend application every other week to keep some kind of protection on it.
I have teh same set up and this is what I found when I first used it. play with the adjuster, one side with full adjustment and the other side set to minimum and you'll find a nice setting in the middle.
I found getting a thicker foam that lasted longer required less water passing through the...
I'm currently using smartwax rimwax topped with 476s  It does the job for maybe a month.
If I had a different colour car I'd probably use nothing but GT products summer and winter, but I don't think you can beat a wax finish on the LY
I've been waiting so long I'm almost wasting my current wheel sealant and trim additive so I can order more. But in fairness My wheels need a refurb before I use something like that and there's not a lot of black trim on the clios.
with both it all comes down to practice and experience, starting out a think it's wise to get a DA, then move onto a rotary. It's what I did and I still struggle with my technique. With a DA you can also use it with pre wax cleansers / glazes that a rotary may not be best suited for that I quite...
only other 1 I've used is P1 that I struggled to get on with and C3 that leaves a lovely finish but won't be needed as C2 diluted works as a QD for top ups, but will be trying C4 & C5 with my next order
I prepped my windows with a simple wash, glass cleaner, clayed, glass cleaner again then applied G3.
I've had G3 on 1 of the panels on my shower screen for a month now, prepped as above, as our area has terribly hard water and is still working well
I've been using it since mid may on the GF's Golf, IPA wipe down, C2 applied and a 2nd coat a month later. Applied another coat 3 weeks ago just because. Keep it topped up with diluted C2 at 1:10 / 1:20 once a month and it'll see you through the winter easy. best thing about it is its self...
Has the OP considered the full cost of this, ie re-profiling, installation, cambelt kit, re-mapping etc. If you're getting rid of the car put that £500 - £1000 towards the insurance of an RS. And I wonder why none of the tuning companies have made a set of cams yet, maybe for the cost it's not...
I won't use RainX again as it would often smear and didn't really work that well for very long.
I'd also recommend the GTechniq G3, have been using it a while on mine and the GF's car with good results at 30mph. Their sealant C2 neat works well on glass as well as bodywork, and works from...
This comment won't be liked by 99% on here, but IMO simple and regular maintenance would lead to 0% of this happening. If it's left, never checked to see if it's sticking / dirty / corroding anything can fail. But if the bonnet catch fails it has much higher consequence's.
I saw one fail. The...

Is this the middle mount you're referring to? I can't see how to improve it unless you can find a substantial way to bond a new rubber to the metal...
A wax after polishing will seal in all your hard work and help protect the paint, and making future washing much easier. Dependant on type durability can last between and month and 6. Using something like AG SRP ( not strictly a polish ) will give the paint a nice shine and start to fill some of...
thanks for all the input. I've agreed to do the car, but for £25 in the end so it covers the cost of what I use etc, but she still has no idea of what I'm going to be doing to her car after explaining it all again but she's happyknowing she's paying me. Doing it this coming Monday so will see...
Thanks JD, that's exactly why I'm not too keen on doing it. We know her quite well, but I wouldn't want to do anything wrong as I know it would end badly, hence originally saying no. But she's persistent and I think I could probably make quite a difference to the car.
Think it's going to come...
occasionally, generally Chelmsford / Colchester way. Less now that the Renault dealership in Harlow is supposed to be closing. Although I was up at Auto Finesse HQ near Stansted a few weeks back picking up some bits.
I've recently been asked to do a work colleagues car as she is always impressed by mine and the other halfs cars. I'm not really interested in getting paid to do it as I think that will take away some of the enjoyment and satisfaction of turning a cars finish around. Plus I'm simply not...
All as JD has said. providing you're happy it's clean, give it a wipe down to remove any oils etc and go apply C2. You don't have to use P1 unless you want to have a bash at some correction or de-oxidising? I don't use it every time I apply.
I started off with the same kit from GT but it didn't...
Sealant over the top of a wax? surely this should be the other way round due to as the wax naturally degrades it will remove the sealant. Plus I can't imaging the sealant bonding that well to a wax?
Also a wax acts as a kind of sacrificial layer allowing dirt to bond to it and not the...
Cheers JD, I kind of feel we've picked your brains so much over the past few years I'll try and help with the more simple questions.
C2 is a great product and I'll be using it on my car over the winter. It has great self cleaning abilities that even after a heavy shower or good rain a lot of...
