Indeed, you say VTR on the title - but VTS in the post itself.
No surprises really if it was a VTS, but there would have to be some serios mods done to the engine if it were a VTR.
If my experience is anything to go by, then uprating the output of your engine must be accompanied by other upgrades such as clutch, engine mounts, gearbox casing, diffs, track-rod ends and so on.
I guess that these bits will handle increased power and higher mileage - but not together. So...
The 16-Valve is not just an RSi with a different head on the engine, like the Mk2 Golf GTi duo. Its a very different car, sharing only the boot, roof and doors externally.
Clio 16v was the hard core hot hatch of the 1990s. Williams was a limited edition developed from the 16v - used a 2.0...

Likewise Squire. Ive always liked the attention my car gets me with the dark wheels, but it just isnt really my style. Im not a bad-boy. I couldnt decide for ages whether I loved the dark wheels or not (they came with the car) - and thats whats important: my taste.
I happen to think that...
Im literally in the process of swapping my 16" aftermarket wheels for the original Phase 2 rims on my Clio 16v. I just think that time is unkind to cultish cars like the 205 GTi/Golf GTi which dont look very original. The 16v is one of those cars that looked good out of the box (like the...
My family has 4 Volvos!! Not really a style statement, (well, old ones anyway) but if youre not worried about fashion then plump yourself into the drivers seat of one. Even a mid 1980s high-spec 240 will easily do the miles and will probably only cost a few bob to buy/insure/youll get your...

Im doing a straight swap of my 16s for the original Clio ones.
Might not seem like the best deal at first (especially as the 16s have newish Yokos on there), but the Phase II 16v wheels are genuine Speedline and are of much better quality than most aftermarket wheels.
Im going to be...
...because its made up of two cars! One I expect you got for a pint and a bag of pork scratchings from your cousin; the other from a house loft clearence sale!
Cheers Lofty. The wheels are not stunning, but dont really need a refurb - no peeling lacquer or anything nasty. Just better than average; theyre coming straight from a local 16v enthusiast I know. Ill see how they come up with a bit of elbow grease and Miracle Wheels!
It sounds as if...
Yes they do go on the non wide-arch Clios - but it depends on offset, how much arch work you want to do and the tyre you use. I had 16s on my old 1.2 Clio (lowered a lot!) and it rubbed like crazy, gouging out chunks of metal!
I guess everyone has their own agendas: mine seems to be rallying/wide arch motorsport cars!
1. Lancia Delata Integrale Evolution
2. Renault Clio 16-Valve/Williams and their Maxi offspring
3. Ferrari 250 GTO
4. Renault Clio V6 - Mk1!!
The deal is done and very shortly I swap my anthracite Motorsport 16" wheels for some original 15" Phase II ones! So its goodbye to the bad-boy style of dark wheels to compliment the black bodywork and leather - and its hello to the "original" unmodified:devilish: look. I guess some who know...
I wouldnt floor it at low revs (like 5th at 30 type low revs) - but for optimum acceleration in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse (!) Id floor it if youre dropping a cog.
