Iron X, Ferrous Dueller etc are the kind versions. If you want something that does the trick and eats EVERYTHING on the wheels- wonder wheels from Halfords, or brick acid. Make sure you glove up for the last two as it's vicious stuff.

Need to make sure there's a gasket on between the head and the manifold. I've never heard of an OE 172 manifold cracking.

Yeah, i think it's clipped in at the front, and maybe a screw up at the dash end mate. Saying that, it's been a long while since i've removed one.
