Flip side of the coin here, I had a blat against a VTS (had a zorst) a few weeks back and can concur with you. I managed to pull no more than about 3 or 4 car lengths from 50 ish upto a lot of revs in fifth. I had a boot full of golfing gear and a hefty passenger mind which probably just about...
lol @ 1335 kg!!!
172 Cup is 1021kg, Mk2 172 is 1110kg iirc .... makes sense becuase the Renault blurb for the Cup said it was 89kg lighter....
Williams is 981kg.... but Cup still has higher bhp/ton ration.

"VaVa". Its what my missus calls it. She calls her Clio "Petal". lol. I usually refer to my car as "my shed" or the "frog mobile".
Mum mums calls hers "Sally Scenic"
As usual there are holes in the Kings thesis...... He may have been better than the other Clio drivers there on that day and he may have gone quicker in the Williams, but hes not the best driver there is, and as far as I can tell isnt even a professional. So Im not likely to accept his judgement...
I dont think that anyone who owns a Clio can chastise another about build quality or reliabilty. They are no better and no worse than each other.
As far as performance goes, the Williams may have more feel and be easier to drive on the limit.... but is it necessarily faster?? Debateable...
I reckon on track, standard for standard (an no willy owners, decat, zorst and cams dont count as standard as some of you seem to think;)) same driver etc the Cup would be quicker but not by much. Less than perfect surface, Id favour the Willy.
Strange that ^^^ I always thought the Cup would hold its money slightly better. But no, in true Renault fashion theyre losing money hand over fist just like everyone elses!!!
iirc, they made more Cups than 1.6 16v Clios......

You need to weigh your car on a weighbridge to get it truly accurate. And if youve got 164BHP @ the wheels with those mods, Ill bare my arse in Woolworths window. On a Saturday.
It might be possible to get 17 bhp @ the fly with those mods, but not without some kind of re-map.
I hate to say it, but I agree with Mitchy. Both Scooby drivers seemed to f**k up the 1st/2nd gear change. Whereas Neil seems to be a very capable 1/4 mile pilot.
Certainly a quick little f**ker though. 14.2 is not to be sniffed at.
0-100 in 14 ish for the scooby. 0-60 in 5. So thats 60-100 in 9 secs. Not exactly blistering.
If you look at Chriss 1/4 mile time/terminal.... 14.1 @98mph!! theres no way Chriss Cup would be in the 5s 0-60, more like 6.5 I would guess. So that makes his car (all rough I know but you get the...
I take an FRS any day. Thats not to say hell be disappointed with a 182 mind.... Performance aside, the Focus has so many of the things that the 182 doesnt.... exclusivity, residuals, build quality....
Cant beat a random drive. I set off for a pack of fags once.... picked up the fags from the local shop, drove past the turning for my house, out of my village and just kept going. Ended up in Northampton at about midnight. Decided that was far enough and came back.
Not quite a 600 odd miler...
