Its a nice day up here in Edinburgh, so I decided to take my moded Valver for a bit of a spin into the countryside. I took the A1 out of the city, then the A198 - which is really well surfaced, twisty and has lots of safe overtaking opportunities. The sun was shining, I had all the windows...
I had a 1.2 Clio ages ago. I did loads of stuff to it (and secretly wanted it to be a 16v). I never stuck any badges on the car. In fact, the best thing to do is take them off. Everybody knows that all the fast cars never have bages - which is why Ive blacked the "16v" on the side of my...
The 16v only ever came with the F7P (F16 ie) engine - which was the same 1.8 as in the 19 16v. I absolutely certain that ALL the standard 16v models were 1.8s. The Williams was the 2.0.
I fancy a change becuase Ive realised that Im basically looking after the Valver as if it were a classic - i.e. not commuting in it, getting it so perfect and generally molly-coddling it a bit. Id like a Williams though just becuase Im never going to be using a car like this for daily use - and...
There are two (before it was lowered) in the gallery. Im not sure how to put them here as I havent got them on a web-page anywhere. I could e-mail some if anybody is interested.

GRRRR!!! It has to be worth a try doesnt it?? To be honest I wouldnt sell my Valver and then get a Willy as its a bit much hassle. But I reckon that this particular 16v has to be quicker and sweeter than a Willy in most circumstances - and you havent seen the condition of this car...

This has got to be a wind-up hasnt it?!
Like many people here, Ive moved up through the Clio family - in my case a 1.2 to a Bacarra 1.8 8v to the besasting 16v. There is no way my 1.2 or 1.8 would have kept up with my Valver (even as standard, when they were moded to hell and back). Just no...

Id be interested in swapping my 16v for a mint and standard (filter etc excepted) Williams if anybody is willing and fancies a change. Basically, youd be getting one of the best Clio 16vs out there - with leather...
Engine: 1794cc F16i.e. twin-cam 16v. Re-built by specialist in 2001 with...
Clio 16vs rarely (if at all) came with air con. Your best bet would be to try and find a Bacarra spec Clio. Theyre 8v SOHC 1.8s and look like the RSi (i.e. an RT with side skirts) - but they have leather and are autos. Could one or two knocking around out there for sub 2k.

Whenever I go home from Bristol to Wales, I have to go over the Severn Bridge. The toll booths lead to a legendary 1/4 mile/0-100 stretch of road before the lanes merge into motorway. The tactic is just to get the best possible start - and see whats going for it, rather than to wait and see...

Have just been to get some new Yokos for my beast - and was chatting to the guys at this place about my Valver.
The mechanic swore blind that the very last of the Clio 16vs were fitted with the 2.0 engine!!! I said "no way", but he wouldnt budge and said that his mate used to have one...

The Williams was a special edition of the 16v and to be honest, I reckon the biggest difference in terms of costs is the insurance. The 16v is a Group 12; the Williams a Group 17.
The Williams had a few select mods to improve on the successful formula of the 16v. Engine wise, it was bored...

Id normally be *very* (borrwing from Nick) interested, except that my car is in the garage over the weekend having the exhaust taken to pieces! Boo hoo!
