OK - this has been a major decision!
I had the MOT done on me old motor today and the bill was £350 (about £320 more than I was expecting!). So Im thinking...

Old Mini?
Not exactly the last word in straight line speed, but darn fine handling all the same. I can never resist the later black Coopers with wider arches!

If this is for a 1991-1998 Clio RSi then this is WAY, way over the top (even for Renault actaully ).
The front springs should be about £70 maximum really - decent aftermarket ones cost circa £50 plus (for lowering). The shocks sound reasonable. But if youre willing to fork out about...

The guy who had the car before me had the cambelt go at 71,998 miles (gutted or what! Shows that the 72k official figure for replacement was good!). Anyway, to cut a long story short, he sent the car down to a Renault specialist in Winchester. The basic price for a re-build was going to be...

OK - now thats sensible! I remember being totally wasted by a Williams in my old 1.2 - totally, totally, totally!
Mind you, I love the look of the Dynamique range. Its just a bit of a shame for 172 drivers that the latest 172 isnt quite as distinguished in terms of looks from the rest of...
I once pulled up to the lights next to a guy in a 1.2 16v Clio. He spotted mine and said "oh I didnt know you could get the old 1.2s with leather, I couldnt get this with leather".
So I said "would you like to test the old and new 16v at the lights?" to which he agreed. Needless to say he...
Ive relayed the story many times so I wont do it in full again. Suffice to say that I also had a guy totally over-react, doing multiple emergency stops in front of me and "wanting to have a word with me".
After a while I managed to overtake him and did a really illegal speed to get away...

Erm...as usual with the 16v, just replace everything and...er...another problem will be along in a minute.
Drive them hard; expect intensive maintenance

So many people come on here with a 16v question or just saying hello - heres a fill in Ive been saving for this kind of situation
The success of the 172 and V6 Clio versions has drawn much attention to Renault’s hot hatches once again. Good as they may be however, Renault Sport has been...
Thing is, it depends on how much you can afford to run a car. Mine might have cost shy of £5k, but has cost me on average £300 a month to keep on the road. Can you afford the costs of an exotic car?
Id be tempted to buy THE nicest Williams 3 I could find and just run it without ever...
Er...I wouldnt count on it!
Youll find that its a pretty good match for a normal-spec Valver - 130bhp per ton, 0-60 in 8 seconds and buckets of torque. Youll probably have one in a 16v, but not by much if hes really giving it some!
The old ST200 is the real one to look for - 202bhp and...
