Diffs or chipped g/box teeth. Former will gradually turn into shuddering in all gears. Happened to me recently!!

Whirring noise is more likely chipped teeth - my box does it despite being re-built with new oil 6k miles ago.

My God Pete, I know the garage had done some serious work to your car - but dont you think adding 7 feet to the length of the car was a bit over the top??!! Get a Maxi kit fitted while youre at it - would look beasting in Naples red (still one of my fave colours).

Could be a million possibilities - from the really simple to the horrendous and nasty! Check that the HT leads, distributor, spark plugs etc are correct and in place for starters. Beyond that, things get more tricky

16s on a non wide arch (not 16v/Willy) Clio will cause enough problems!! Go for a good, but big looking, smaller wheel and enjoy a fine handling car!!

My insider contacts actually tell me that the Focus Cosworth platform may well be transfered to the top-of-the-pile forthcoming Capri replacement. The stories of the Focus RS and Cosworth were leaked well before either project was in full swing, such was the anticipation and hunger for news...
