The one thing I would be looking for in a new car is build quality and the some bad stories going around, but not admitdley as bad as the renault ones.
What about an S3, gonna be my next car, the CTR just isnt better enough tha nt the 172 to justify the change. To say the spec on a CTR is basic would be and understatment.
Good point Jilly bout the MOT, though got two yrs two worry bout it and with my habit of changing cars probably wont be an issue, relavent to epic, however.
No cahnge of car will make no difference in the second yr. renault ins will also insure other makes. No it doesnt mak any difference with age as you can have a moped from 16 and accumulate NCB
Thats really bad. 24k service is the same as the 12k service in the handbook called and a service. You have in 36k period to A services and then a B service. This is listed in the handbook. There should be no extra charge for air con as this is the 172s service interval and they all have it!!!
Funny i discovered this today as well. At the end of the second yr you would actually have 5yrs!!! I left my free insurance policy running so Im gonna swap over form directline as the refund Ill get for the remaining 8mths is enough to pay for another 12months with reno and at the end of it Ill...
Not sure bout the warranty, its a 51 reg so would only have a year remaining. I forgot to mention that the side airbag has gone, but I have got one already and can get the cover restitched back to orginal for just twenty quid. No problems insuring a Cat D car. It really doesnt need that much work.
No gonna go for original parts, my dad thinks he might want it. Reckon it can be easily repaired for under 2k. so thats 7k at max. Then it will be Cat D so around 8k value will leave me with a 1k+ margin. Im gonna strip it down source the parts and stick it into a local qaulity bodyshop that I...
I once remember someone saying that the satndard wheel and tyre weighed 16kg approx, So a 6.2kg rim with tyre is bound to save weight. Not sure it will convert into any significant performance gains, but its nice to think it might. They just look good quality rims, that are hand machined, made...
Have managed to get a 172, 51reg with 22k on the clock for 5k!!! It has front end damage. Needs Bonnett bumper, lights, grill, one wing and a few other bits, nothing major. Gonna make a good job of repairing it and either keep it and sell mine or sell it. Either way its gonna make a fun project...
You can get them in any of the team dynamques colours. I think the Pro Comps 1 would look ace. The pro race 2 would look really good. They arent too bad in price either. In 16" they are just over £400 for the alloys only , if I remember right. Ive had these in mind for my 172 for a while, quite...
http://www.egg.comwww.egg.com. Just got a really cheap quote off them for my mate. didnt beat directline for me, but beat directline for him by over 200.
Yeah I thought if you disconnected the battery for longer than 30mins then the airbags wont activate. My mates looking to swap his. What have you put on Fred??? Whats the insurance said???
Wierd, I thought it was something the garage set up as me an mate got our extremes a week a part with the same spec, but his beeps and my never did. The 172 doesnt beep but is 3mths older than they were.
Exactly, mine wasnt lowered intially and I had problems, now lowered 40mm its a real pain. On my others I had lowered 40mm with lower profile tyres and never had any problems.

Renault swore to me that there is no chance that the problem could cause the cambelt to snap, as this is what the AA said would happen if I kept driving it. Apparently the modification is to stop the whining noise as opposed to stop any mechanical damage from occuring. I cant imagine its cheap...
