Probably works out more expensive to be using an F4R, but the gains are worth it imo. Plus, parts are much more readily available.

Waste of time. F4R can be picked up for pennies now and is a much better/newer/more powerful engine.

Press cars for any manufacturer will always be meticulously maintained. You wouldn't want someone who's going to be writing about his experiences to be driving anything other than the best the product could be.

What torque are you doing them up to? Car got the correct lower arms/driveshafts etc in?

Cruise makes no difference. Basically, unless the 182 box has a speedo drive, you'll lose the speedo reading. Ph1 172's and 172 Cups (and some very early Ph2 172 parts bin specials) use the speedo sensors on the back of the gearbox to give the speedo reading. Ph2 172's and 182's use the ABS...

LOL. as above. Could try heating it. I did laugh at 'after muchfun'. Ball joints is 11 bolts from memory.

PMSL. Just undo the rad upper mounts and you should have been able to move the rad enough to wiggle it out.

As above. 2x 13mm's on the engine bay side of the front bumperbeam. You'll need a ratchet spanner/spanner to get in there.

Black or Silver are the only acceptable colours imo.

Try BigRedd. They do rebuilt kits for about £25 an axle from memory.

If you're mega-skint, an egg will do exactly the same. Ish. Please note, this isn't a Failsport customer car style fix, lol.

Standard exhaust manis are ten a penny and perfectly capable should it need replacing. If you did want an upgrade, change it to a 182 manifold. 4-2-1 rather than a 4-1. You'll need a link pipe to connect it to your 172 exhaust though.
