As said, to the specialists it's an hour's labour or so to fit and time up the belts with the engine out of the car.

Cheapest way to fix it would be buy a second hand engine for approx £300 and have someone fit it for cheap.If you can get the car to Surrey, I'll supply and fit an engine for £500. 70k. FSH and had cambelt done 2 years ago..

Unless a pulley is slipping around the belt, the cam wouldn't turn if the engine seized. You'd definitely get noises especially if on the motorway at what i presume to be 3k revs+ Shameless plug,but if either of you do need an engine, drop me a PM

182 is twin cam, yeah. If it was something big (ie, cambelt- you'd have probably heard some horrible noises). The belt he'll be able to see is the aux belt.

Simples. Two clips on back of airbag. Unplug the wire. Then big T50 (I think) torx screw holding the wheel on. Might need a bit of wiggling/rocking to get it off- sometimes they get a bit sticky.

Fairy liquid around the suspected area? Run the car, blip throttle a few times, if there's air coming out of there, you'll see bubbles?
