Probably best to remove the acoustic valve and then run the new CAF down there. Either that, or place the caf hole facing down towards the gearbox, then run the caf down to the lower engine cover. maybe put a hole in that.

sounds like they are siezing to me. you sure the sliders aren't sticking? Maybe try regreasing and see what happens. Mine were siezed when i changed my rears. Saying that, is it doing it both sides? Could be a siezed handbrake mech.

you could get a whole panel sprayed for that mate. Wouldn't bother. Could you not get hold of the paint yourself and give it a go.
