I could have kept the contis on the rear, but figured there is such a difference between the F1s and the Contis I was best to change all of them. You are supposed to have the new tyres on the rear too BTW.
Ive just had 4 Goodyear Eagle GS-D3 put on to replace the Contis. The level of grip these things generate is very, very impressive. I dont expect them to last long though.
I paid £290 for 4 195/45/16
The consistency of Renault.
I wasnt aware some cars had it without the switch. In that case there is a light on the dash which is orange and has the image of a car sliding on ice on it. The will illuminate for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on.
Very easy. Just undo the screws, and the clip which holds the hose on, then lift the lid off, replace the filter and put it back together. The scews are tamper proof, but a flat bladed screw driver works fine.
Childishly drawm red arrows show the screw locations. And yes I am bored this...
They also changed the little Renault/Elf sticker in the rear window around mid 2003, when they removed the one lock. How sad am I for noticing that fact!!!
To be honest Jon, I cant see there being any noticable difference.
Ive had a PiperX one in for a few months but the rubber has perished so its going back.
Ive not read anything bad about either filter, the ITG or the Green. Maybe it was Rich-D who convinced me, or it could have been...
I was going to get one for mine last week but in the end went for an http://www.itgairfilters.com/ITG filter.
You can get a Green filter from here: http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/green/index.htmhttp://www.needforspeed.co.uk/green/index.htm
http://www.demon-tweeks.com/Demon Tweeks also do...
Im not 100% certain on the dates, but I think they started coming with it from around September 2002.
Cars with it tend to also tend to have clear side repeators, as they were made standard at the same time. A few months later the drivers side door look was removed!! Not the best way to tell...
Im just going to pop down and see of mine does it. Ive never actually noticed!!
I have a spare manual!!
[edit] yup, it locks itself after 30 seconds of being unlocked, but no door opened.
There is a feature on the 172 where if the doors arent opened within 30 seconds of being unlocked they lock themselves. It could be related to that?
Im just having a quick look in the manual for you.
Personally Id rather mine was hidden, but having driven a 172 with a standard exhaust over Christmas I couldnt live without the noise anymore. I never thought Id ever say that!!!
Id even prefer it cut into the bumper, but I have no intention of chopping the bumper as the standard exhaust will...
I didnt ask about a discount, but Im sure Chavy could have a word and sort something out for future purchases. There arent many places that I could find that supply ITG filters, let alone have them in stock.
Ill let you know if it arrives tomorrow. Knowing my luck it will, and Ill be asleep...
I think Im going Sunday. Depends how I feel. I need a nice relaxing weekend now the festive period is over.
Fingers crossed it comes tomorrow too, I suppose I should have enquired as to how its posted!!
The Mk1 172 had a round one mate.
I cant find an ITG filter for a Mk2 172 anywhere. Im not sure they even do one?
I may just get a green one from here: http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/
Funny you should post in here Rich, I was just looking at what to replace it with. Ill have a look into those. (must resist a viper).
Ive also dropped David at K Tec a mail about the short life of my Pipercross filter. Anyone want the cleaning kit I paid £11.49 for? :@
