    182 Brakes - poor

The servo amplifies the pressure you press on the brake pedal, to make braking more effortless. With the same pressure pushed on a 1.2/1.4's brakes, they'll bite harder than a 1*2. From an equal speed, at the same, high temperature, the 182 will pull up long before a 1.4. Rally cars, etc...

    182 Brakes - poor

Your 1.4 brakes weren't better, they were just over-servo'd.

    Gearbox gone..

I found a fully reconditioned one to be £650 from a gearbox specialist. They would do £500 if you exchanged your old box.. New from Renault was about £725. Got mine off the bay, second hand, £300, off a cup with 55k. Win. When you say your gearbox has 'gone', what do you mean?

    As said before..

    Personalised Number Plate

Not really. Just seems a bit of a random purchase. If it had her initials, or something to do with the car, it'd make sense. WOW, to me, really doesn't..

    Weird brake problem..

Christ knows. Ages ago, I'd imagine, but the levels are all fine.. Hope it is something as simple as a caliper clean-up..

1*2 mounts what all do they fit?

The 1*2 ones will be much too strong. They're weak for a reason, imo.

    Weird brake problem..

Right, a weird one. On a 1997 Nissan Almera 1.4 (weapon.) When driving sometimes, the brake pedal goes tight (exactly the same as when you pump the pedal without the engine running.) and the front left brake sticks on.. I can't work out why.. It's only when the engine's hot, and in...

    sticking gears possibly ?

If the dogbone has been fitted with the bolts in the wrong way round, the gearstick will knock against it underneath the car, restricting it's movement..

Brothers Birthday (stay with me on this..)

For someone who isn't going to go all out, AG/Megs products will be fine. I use Megs shampoo. SRP. EGP. Megs tyre shine. A decent mitt and a few microfibres are a must, too. £40/50 should do it..

    Starter motor/Solenoid

They have a heat shield/cover, and possibly a smaller heatshield ( i think). I have one of the smaller ones in the garage if anyone needs..

Installing a turbocharger on a 2000 Clio Sport

    I don't think he's talking about a Clio 200. I think he means a Ph1 172, from 2000.

    I agree. Do this.

    Tyre sizes again....

No. PE2's are £50 a corner. Fitting and balancing will be £30. Worth the extra, for sure.

    Tyre sizes again....

195/50/15. Cheap as chips, and a decent looking profile. Standard size for Oz f1s on the Ph1 172.

    Subframe removal before Gbox??

I dropped the subframe right down on one side, and it was easy enough. It would have been much easier had the subframe been totally dropped, but I didn't want to mess about with the steering rack..
