Only when it's in gear? Does the noise stop when you put the clutch down?

Does it have a cost for the service? That'd be a pretty big indication.

Does the brake pedal kick back at you?

That was my thinking behind it. I've started stripping it all down, and it's not going to be driving anywhere until I've got the box done.

I always hear people making good noises about BTB. I remember seeing a video from Makavelli?! Maybe worth a search.

You need a press. Most garages will be able to do it for £10 or £15.

No, it wouldn't. The VTS just feels quicker at that speed, as it's more 'plasticy'.

Proper weird one this. I've drained some oil out, and now the problem isn't so bad. the whining noise isn't all the time. But still comes and goes. Eff knows. Anybody? Or am I looking a new 'box?

Think mine might be having the same problems.

I've taken the butterfly plug out of the gearbox and oil leaks out, so there's plenty of oil in the box. Yet the box still whines. Clutch bearings, perhaps?
