    50mpg from my 182!

You have some incredible roads on your doorstep, go from Tewks to Eastnor Castle to Malvern and back. :race:

    182 to 197 - who's done it?

Nope, electric systems are coming along well. In the 225, the hub is isolated from the steering system (as I understand it), same for the 197. The extra torque and the lsd in the R26 give it good steering feel (I've been told/read), and thats the same electric system.

    182 to 197 - who's done it?

Not the steering fella, IIRC the 197 uses the same hub set-up as the meg 225. Designed to eliminate torque steer, but the 197 has a lot less torque. It's why the steering has no feel.

    X151 WCG-Ph1 172

Thats the one. Big alarm bell, was the service book. There's a page ripped out, after the 2nd service. Looking at the subsequent mileage, I'm sure it's been clocked by that owner, and he's removed the service history to hide the miles the car had done when the service was done.

    182 to 197 - who's done it?

So true. The car on the 8yr old chassis has such an advantage!;);) In all seriousness, IMO, the 197's problem is it's steering. Decent feelsome steering allows you to enjoy a car without going crazy speeds. When you don't have that, you have to push and push to get to the point where the chassis...

    182 to 197 - who's done it?

Just read performance car. Better of getting a Trophy "it's like the new car (197cup) needed to be at 10/10ths to provoke the same kind of reaction and feedback that the Trophy does at 7/10ths" "The 197 has a better top-end, but it merely kept up with the Trophy rather than gaining" "The 197cup...

And yet still less plastic than yours:rasp:

The Vee's special enough to confuse you when looking at an awful colour.

    182 to 197 - who's done it?

Not a great difference in size between the meg and the clio, 1mm difference in width, about 3cm length?

    How cheap! R26

Even more wrong. Liquid is a horrid colour, and should of only been available on the nissan micra.

    Ipod capable headunit

Mark, depends if cd playback is required. If not http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/8311.html The massive display is great with the ipod, and it works brilliantly with the parrot.

Anybody recognise the reg number above? Went to look at it today for a friend, seems fairly tidy but a few things make me question the mileage.

From what I know, has to be adjustable.

No, thats nasty. Viper green is the Porsche Green

The adjustment dial is pinned in place using a grub screw. Remove the grub screw and you can adjust the damper.

Just a badge from what I've been told. If you re-order them, the fronts come via sachs, the rears from Renault.

    Front camber adjustment/understeer

Go to a decent motorsport garage and get them to set it up for you.

    182 Cup Alloys

Be cheaper to buy mint cup wheels and sell your on.

The rears aren't sachs AFAIK, slightly uprated 182cup one's. Be interested to try a Trophy with the rear coilover unit from AST.

    How cheap! R26

Actually meant to be more supple and better riding than the standard R26, softerv springs due to the lower weight.

    IAM

I did a full day, fantastic. You get so much more enjoyment out of the car after as well.

Anybody on here aged 19 and have a RS clio?

    Living in a war zone FTL. I still pay £800 on a 172. 27yrs old, >5yrs NCD.

The Trophy is the best car to drive on your list. By a country mile.

    IAM

You don't need a 'peformance' car. Did some training with one of the 'gatekeepers'. Told me about an older chap with a standard Octavia vRS. On an organised drive, he starts behind the 'supercars'. By the end, he's usually first back.
  26. ForceIndia

    IAM

High performance club. Lots of effort, but lots of perks. Driving holidays, the chance to drive supercars.

I'm more inclined to get in the HPC, more expensive (by a lot!) but more bonuses.

    172 182 engine mods

For the price of the maxogen, you could get matched inlets and a custom RSTuner remap. Cheaper, and better gains.
  29. ForceIndia

    IAM

I'm thinking of doing IAM, but still undecided. Several people I know (with far more experience than me) have criticised the IAM for being a bit too rigid in it's attitude's. Having said that, it is very cheap for what you get.

    182 to 197 - who's done it?

Honestly fella, I've driven both a 197 and 225. The Meg engine hides the turbo so well, and it revs well. I really don't like turbo's (impreza's etc) but the light pressure turbo's (Golf GTi, Meg 225) don't feel anything like that. The fact that it feels so much more rapid is a bonus.
