it should be ok just to cable tie to the bottom of the seat, dont think it'l bring on the light. If it does just cable tie the switch in the closed position!

The dephaser pulley you mean! If your lucky it might just be a noisey hydraulic lifter.. big-ish job to change but wont cost to much. I had a similar noise but it turned out the cam journals were scored and it scraped the head.
The ECU cover rubs through on the wiring loom..causes alll sorts of problems...EML light on, power loss etc. Also worth checking are the 3 black relays in the engine bay fusebox.. starter relay, injection computer supply relay and cant remember the other 1. Theyre quite common for corrosion on...
