    Jon's Trackday PH1 172 project thread

Small update from the weekend: Tidied up the bay. 30mm extra rear track and additional 2 deg of camber Swapped front spacers from the heavy steel versions to lighter alloy versions. They are quite a bit lighter. Miltek decat ordered. Sump is leaking again, albeit very, very slowly...

    172 Cup Track/Fast Road car.

You could run the biggest Pipercross with the deeper Reviere backplate I suspect.

sonny172cup "track car to race car project"

Re: sonny172cup "track racer project" Great progress. Good to see you doing it all yourself as well mate.

    The £800 stop gap car.

I wouldn't need any other car. I bloody love that shape Laguna.

    Vodafone £3 abroad deal.

Once you opt in you're in. When you use the phone abroad it just charges you on a daily basis. i use it quite a lot. Pretty sure it's the only decent thing about Vodafone.

    My 172 Turbo

I saw this car a few times up at Andy's whilst mine was there. The Yozza system was stupidly loud in my opinion. You made the right choice.

    Oreca 'Race' Exhaust, 'GREAT' Quality!

Totally agree that the exhaust looks pretty shocking for 18 months old, but I can also see why they refuse to swap or refund. If i'd modified something in any way I wouldn't expect a company to honour any warranty.

    First weigh-in for the ph1

How on earth have you got it that light? I'm intrigued! Mine is 970kgs with the cage in and half a tank. There are a few interior pics on this page of my project thread: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?570113-Jon-s-Trackday-PH1-172-project-thread/page17

    My Octavia VRS on Autotrader.

I quite like this. Shame it's not done 20k less miles.

North East Annual BBQ - Sunday 14 July - Hamsterly Forrest

I might pop along to this for an hour or two. We went yesterday with the little one and it's a great place. I'm not sure the silver car will get over the speed humps though!

Cheers! Yep, Chris has been really helpful so far! Just waiting on an answer from him at the moment actually!

    Jon's Trackday PH1 172 project thread

I'm sure it'll be ok Mark. It's loud, but not silly noisy.

    Jon's Trackday PH1 172 project thread

Same principle i guess, but the distance is obviously quite a bit less.

    Jon's Trackday PH1 172 project thread

Slightly different at Goodwood. They'll noise test it at the start of the day at 2/3rd revs which I suspect it'll be fine on. There are three microphones around the track which are on all the time. The one that usually trips out is out of the final chicane when the car is under full load. It's...

    Jon's Trackday PH1 172 project thread

Probably Mark. Induction is quite loud. The exhaust is pretty quiet at the moment, but it'll be a bit louder with the decat.

    Jon's Trackday PH1 172 project thread

Little update that is well overdue. The car had developed a small oil leak that I wanted to get sorted. Very fortunatly AndyRG lives down the road from me and we'd been chatting about a few things so I took the car up to his and left it with him. The leak was coming from the back of the sump...

    Wideband Sensor for ITB's

I don't, but i'm onto the manufacturers of my ecu to see what they recommend. If they come back with the same answer i'll buy.

    Wideband Sensor for ITB's

A bosch lambda works out at £42 via Euros at the mo, but other makes are cheaper. I assume the Bosch is the OE choice?

    Wideband Sensor for ITB's

Is there a preferred narrowband to use with itb's? Is the 16v one the best bet?

Loud pop, auxiliary belt partly shredded... HELP

Anybody would think the F4R was a Veyron engine. Give the guy a chance to fix it first, i'm sure he's changed a set of valves before. Failing that there's Mark Fish in Essex, or the guys in Dartford. There are very decent specialists in Sevenoaks as well, not a million miles away.

    Decat options

I think they are different length's though mate aren't they? I was just going to buy a cap for the second hole mate. Dan, the exhaust on the car is pretty quiet at the moment. Last tested at 88db or something, so it should be OK.

I don't particularly want to buy secondhand.

Yeah, it will be, it's still road legal. Sort of.

    Decat options

I've been on here years but I've never paid any attention to the topic of decats, however I need one for the track car. It's the later twin barrel/lambda setup on a ph1, so i assume a ph2 172 decat will fit fine. Save paying Ktec £118, is there a cheaper alternative? I'm loathed to pay that...

    Bimmer 320d

I got these done a few years back. They're still on my garage shelf actually. Couldn't disagree more if i'm honest. Fantastically well made, handled OK, reasonable to drive once you learnt the characteristics of the engine, perfect driving position, smart looks and oh so economical. I'd have...

    At home in the Alps

Very, very jealous. I used to go on many a driving holiday to the Alps in years gone by. Someone mentioned the Lyon to Annecy road earlier as well. I know that one very well! You are living the (my) dream sir.
