    Clio 172 Cup Advice

Could go even more awesome and go PH1 with cup packs ;) The wider track on the cup's is due to the increased offset on the turini's - so make sure you get one with it's original alloys !

    Average owners age?

Got my PH1 at 21 and now driving at 22, don't think age matters to be honest as long as you like what you drive. No need to conform to other peoples ideas of what you should be driving, we are all going the same way anyway (Unless your driving a cup in the snow)

    Clio 172 Cup Advice

I've not driven a VTR so im out on that account, but engine wise if it has FSH and has been timed correctly with the tools and knowledge the engines are solid and can take abuse most days. It's very rare for a gasket failure on these engines, the biggest issue is typically with the timing, often...

    Inner cv boot

Two it seems but they are different (Passenger being the bottom one below) I believe every version of the sport uses a different driveshaft so it makes it tricky, would likely need to stip the shaft down to replace them or get the stretchy style boots but they can rip easy if snagged.

    197 inlets on a 172 ......... has anyone else seen this ???

It's been done with the full head and inlets with a charger to raise the CR http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?599541-Soon-to-be-turboed Earlier in the thread it also shows the gains of just the inlet.

You can also loosen of the mounts and jimmy the engine forward with a long bar I believe.

Why does the aux belt 'have' to be done with the cambelt?

Not to mention an aux belt is about £16 (£8 more if it has aircon) It's worth it to be honest.

Garage damages shock removing seized top mount nut - who is liable for new shock?

Not required for 1*2 springs but 100% needed for 1.2 springs, make sure you get some decent compressors too - nearly lost my knee on the last pair that failed on me.

    ph1 or ph2 hmmmm

If you can live without the creature comforts, the PH1 will suit you nicely. A word of the wise though, invest in a glove for your gear hand ;)

    Ph2 172 cup.....lower weight the only difference?

They are stamped RS on the inlet and they are ported/matched for better flow from factory.
  28. mantis946

    Ph2 172 cup.....lower weight the only difference?

Yep wider track due to increased offset of the turinis, differs on the trophy too I believe
  29. mantis946

    Ph2 172 cup.....lower weight the only difference?

Different aux setup so cheapper major services and less drag on the engine due to shorter belt and no compressor.
