As above, They are almost impossible to get out in one piece. Should be able to disconnect the cable however and leave it attached to the hub.

Might sounds silly but, tried the fuel cut off switch ? mine tripped when the battery went and needed pressing down.

Admittedly it is a strange issue, some people only report a light on the dash when disconnecting the system as opposed to the car stalling. What does your's idle at on a related note ?

Logically it has to be the flow of the air, i'd bung it off - take off the airbox so it's just TB and see if it starts up - means you can see if the TB is actually allowing any air through (Obviously be cautious not to drop anything into "the void")
