Because were not all 12 years old all the time. If you're a good driver (ie smooth) your mpg shouldnt be too bad anyways, plus you'll be quicker.

I kinda see what you're saying mate. Rear spring on my ledas just sits loose on the platform, not seen them bolted before.

The height adjusters at the rear, that sit over the spring platform and then the spring sits on top are bolted through the axle? Explain... If thats the case easy to run different springs either way. Leda do shorter springs.

I think my rears about the same height as that mate. If i put stuff in the back the tyres disappear, lol. Phil - Yeah mate. The two adjusters that screw together arnt needed. If you remove them the spring will just sit on the spring platform, as if you just had lowering springs. Will try...

Paradas seem to last ages, but not so hot in the wet. Dry grip is unbelievable though. Go for the michelins again, car was designed for them.

Dansta, get a prospeed quiet stealth. Baldylocks has one and is by far the nicest exhaust ive seen/ heard on a 172. Sounds as standard with a slight burble, nice and non raspy when you're on the beans, and completely hidden away under the bumper.
