It's stupid really but all the better for us, if someone wants to win a race they will put fresh rubber on fronts after doing maybe a front left earlier in the weekend.
John I'm not saying they run them to a slick, they have lost too much time by that point supposedly, they are replacing them not for necessity but for 10ths of seconds.
If they do testing, qualifying and it's a 3 race weekend they might do 3 tyres in a weekend. It's expensive at the sharp end...
At that price your getting scrubbed tyres for less than the best RRP price available for one single tyre by quite a bit.
Who would be throwing away 3-4mm tyres in any volume, you use more tread on 2x 9 lap races on Knockhill.
Yeah speak to Rennie the Scrutineer, he'll keep you right.
If you can get sponsors all the better but it's not much more than a track day and not as hard on the car as a track/race day.
Looks alright on a ph1, cooksports?
Cheers, they do look a little high but might be worth it to start using some of my A048r's
Nice flamer, next track day there going on.
K-tec will sell you the peddle plate along with a new pedal, cable and a couple of other small bits for circa £100 last time I tried. It's not essential and can be mounted with a bit of thought, best with it as it offers adjustment for pedals.
They're better than nothing IMO.
SLS next year? Go for it, like a track day with a bit of competition.
I'll be out in a few if the numbers pick up, my road cup is eligible to enter just now but don't have a suit or right helmet yet
I checked the tyres, no idea how to read what month and year they were made though.
EDIT: they were made in the 11th week of 2013 so last week in march this year.
For the £71 I can get the 205/45/16 RS-R's I'll take the chance with old stock/different compound. In mr mx5's case it matters as he is doing a single car championship and any advantage helps.
There are tyre mould dates on tyres that could be compared, I'll have a look for mine after washing...
I run FK automotive 10mm bolt through type on track with no problem and there cheap. You will have to grind down the hub spigot for anything less than 15-16mm hubcentric iirc.
Tyre storage has a lot to do with how they perform, assuming this guy treated them in exactly the same way as he treated all of them (heat cycles and duration used, stored etc)
I'm the same as you George, I'm also going to try these less well known brands after trying Federals, I was very...
Exactly, you get both bolt to hub 'hubcentric' and bolt through 'hubcentric' spacers.
Rule of thumb is you want to fit hubcentric spacers if you are going any thicker the the spigot of the hub.
Anyone got pics of a 172 cup on speedline 2118's and cook sports or eibach's. So tempted to fit my standard callipers, 2118's and semi slicks for a trackday on Sunday.
People say there's two types of compounds supposedly as some mx5 racers had difference in lap times between two different sources of the tyre, I run these from my tyres and can assure you there pretty darn good.
Pretty good afaic for a car with lowering springs.

Although I would just phone R-Sport in Wimbeldon UK who are Renaults Motorsport main parts supplier, they will know what you mean if you ask for parts from a mk 2 clio cup racer.

Your telling me + it takes days when you have to book it in. I'm sure there is labour on top if an adjustment is seized or stiff and takes a while. There's only two tuners up here that I know of that do it so guess they can charge that much.
You booked both sessions Gaz?
I wouldn't usually advise it either tbh but its either £44 or £120 up here, I know which one I would rather especially when you can watch over/do it yourself.
