Yeah see how it goes, the rear of the jeep drops a good bit just with the trailer on so it will sit down more with the car, trailer tyres dont move much as there up at 80psi ( GTW 2600kg trailer)
I will definately take it on a short test tow Friday before I head of on Sat to Knockhill. I last...
Thanks for the comments. My mates have been pushing to take it off roading, maybe after the weekend when its been a long trip towing haha.
re tow bar. I had the trailer hooked up the other night and it was slightly rear axle heavy, I'm hoping when the weight goes on it will even out. I am in...
Immaculately turned out James as I have all ready said and congrats on the job, I would certainly be offering you a placement if this is what you have done on your first attempt.
ps, roof vent arrived fine thanks.
Yeah looks alright considering the two tone.
Towers over them, its great on the road.
Changes it from a chelsea tractor to a mean looking 4x4 i think. Dedication or sad, you decide. I usually do it to older cars, especially if they have had dogs in like this one.
Finally got my hands on something to tow the trailer and take my cars to track days.
Not my first choice but it came up cheap from a friend and will do the job perfectly. Its had 2.5k spent on it in the last 6 months including new suspension all round, stainless exhaust, all new coil packs...
I didn't realise you were using this filter its been cut to pieces no? That's never going to work even if you change trumpets, the filter has caging inside. Like I have said, machine the manifold ideally, rounded sausage filter and 120's should have more room. Remember when driving forward them...
It is for the race car, after all the commotion of them not working etc I had to try for myself. It takes an hour to fit so it will be swapped when its required.
Yeah looks mean IMO, pity its two tone though. They are 2" bigger than the 20's that were on there before. Going to lift the cab 2" higher tomorrow for room.
Bit of an update, copied over from the PMS shifter thread.
I have fitted mine with no issues what so ever, great bit of kit. I have yet to be for a thrash but its great. It took me just over 1 and a half hours from jacking the car up to putting it back down. The only complaints are slight knock...
Well done James, cars stunning. Don't bend it too, I really want to see this thing by next years end.
I think 40k is a conservative figure to for his car too even at the initial spec he had, I know what mine cost and most things I have are 2nd/bargains that came up and not brand new like...
You need to seal in the crank end caps on these engines by pumping silicone down the sides, what I'm saying is put a spot of silicone on the 4 points where the crank caps touch the block then whack the sump on.
Hopefully someone can put up the Renault pic to show what I mean.
Just use rtv silicone or similar on the 4 bits where the crankshaft end caps touch the block, the sump seal does the rest. Have you taken out the crankshaft end caps too?
I would get the clutch checked like you say and probably replace the release bearing for piece of mind. It will come with a clutch kit. Also check the crankshaft seal, there circa £25 and would be stupid not to if your wanting trouble free motoring and its condition is unknown.
You don't need the clutch to select gear really, get under the car and move the linkage, one or 2 gears might be troublesome to get into but only because its not rotating.
