That could be said about nearly all lenses - and is usually a fault of the AF system in the camera rather than the lens itself. The only real problem with the f1.8 which makes autofocus a problem is the motor is stupidly slow.
However how many people buy a dslr and a 50mm f1.8 and then try to...
It's not well built - but saying it's autofocus doesn't work is insane
Plus its 1/4 the price of any of the ones you're quoting. For beginners learning how aperture, iso, shutter speed actually affect the photo - it's perfect
I'm not familiar with the 1.6 engine layout
I know on the 2.0 you have to undo all the manifold bolts and move the manifold back out the way and then you can get to the starter from underneath.
I did it on my driveway myself but it took nearly 4 hours and was a nightmare :(
This is looking awesome
Good to see you got such a good finish with rattle cans - gives me the confidence I needed to have a go at mine when it warms up a bit :D
I've taken the sandwich plate off - it's definitely leaking from the rubber gasket between plate and block
The only thing I could see was that the the nut holding the plate on was not particularly tight - I'm not sure if that's because the rubber seal compressed - or if I undid it slightly...
Filters on :D
I'm not keen on the giant Pipercross advert - but it's a nice solution for now until I get measured up for an airbox later in the year.
Plus there's loads of room for 120mm trumpets :D
Ermmm well it lowers it as much as you want - they're coilovers LOL
I don't have my rollcage fitted at the moment as it's out being sprayed - so the car is 60kg lighter than usual
Look inbetween the middle 2 exhaust pipes at the back - theres a silver looking heat shield
The starter motor is under that and the solenoid is on the top of the starter motor
It's a very common fault around 70-80k - the heat from the exhaust starts to make the solenoid stick all the time
The...
Cheers DAR - I ordered some last night off the net, just thinking they probably won't arrive in time for putting it back together saturday
Northloop - Thanks mate, I'll check them out at lunch time, they're literally 5 mins from my house so it'd be nice to find a local nut/bolt supplier...
1100D is a good little camera - does everything including HD video well enough that it'll be a year before you out grow it
Also you can get some good lenses and then when you do upgrade the body the lenses will fit on whatever you get - so it's not money thrown away
The only thing I would say...
I had my Dslr in the car but my fingers were too cold so I never got it out LOL
If the weather is better next time I think we should all go for a drive somewhere and do a little photoshoot :)
I drive mine with gloves all the time like Tony says - and when it's in the garage it has a cover on it
That being said it's only a weekend car and I still get abuse from my mates for wearing driving gloves LOL
Ask Tony :)
The airboxes provide nice still calm air for the bodies - whereas the filters are surrounded by turbulent air
Probably in reality a few bhp difference if that - but the noise I suspect is immense :D
Had a s**t day at work and needed to unwind - so popped the bodies off the car and attacked the carbon airbox...
Measured a million times - and made stencils - and then started drilling
It was a bit of lip-biting, tongue out kinda action but all ended well :D
I've made a hole in the...
Arghh just seen there are some that use a double o-ring design
Looks LOADS better - it was an absolute pain trying to get the flat oil seal to stay in the right place while I was tightening it up
Might have to get one of those
Althought saying that - the actual sandwich plate looks the same...
Well it was anodised black but same design yeah - that sounds s**t :(
Do you have a recommendation for a better designed one?
I'll take it off tonight and check the gasket
The side of the rubber seal that goes into the sandwich plate is a double o-ring - but the side that goes onto the block is just a flat piece of rubber :(
