Resurrect an old thread
are the NGK PFRE6-10 still the ones to go for on my 172?
Edit: Strange, ebay do set of 4 genuine NGK for £38 cheapest, but you can get the individual for £7.19 from another seller .... just under £28.80, although that ad specifies a "Short code" ?
Assume I am not...
No, he did say hot, and I must admit the grip you get on a small tight circuit like Lydden is really good at 24psi hot.
Just wipes the tyres away quickly
Personally 30 hot is to high for me, as steering goes lighter on tight corners
As it happens, around half dozen had the same issue, some with brand new tyres on front nearside. Mine weren't new. Pressure was recommended by site Pro. I was recommended to go to 24psi!
And no one took exception to my driving, and had a good few chats with the site Pro...…….
Camber bolts...
Not mine
But since Ive had it from standard, had Induction kit, bored out throttle body, matched inlets, sports cat and last weekend a remap (As well as the dreaded cambelt/aux belt change last year)
For a £550 car I bought almost 3 years ago its just turned 100k miles and puts out just under...
hsustyle based up in Tun Wells has a hobby of refurbing Clio Sports. Had a few bits n pieces off him. Last Clio he had looked fab, and he sold it for only little money too.
heading to Scunthorpe Prem Inn tomos eve, after visiting Engine Dynamics in Essex, on way from Brighton, to get a remap
See all you guys and gals sooooooon! :D :D :D
I have 4 AD08r's of which 2 are on wear indicator.
I thought that, particularly in the dry, does it really matter how low the wear gets as some drivers use slicks?
However, having read up on the web there are a lot of different thoughts. Some say its fine for a while, and use until the rubber...
I find a long bamboo cane helps- clip one side of strap in, then stick the other end of the strap to the end of the bamboo, and push under the car to the other side
Works fine. Saw me all through the winter, no problem. The undercar securing straps are really helpful, and the water drains off completely, in fact dropping off away from the sills at the base.
Deffo worth getting the better quality one, as its bone dry underneath, albeit a bit of humidity...
Mines all done, brakes working good. Slightly squeaky but I find that with all new brakes till they've been bedded in- have copper greased the relevant points.
Breaker bar was a definite requirement for me
Just a couple points: The small clip you put on the back small bar which sits under the...
Just changed the discs today. They were 2 x 18mm bolts at the rear, holding the complete caliper on. thanks both
They were a right *stard to get off too. One of them I had to go half way with the breaker bar, the second half journey of the thread one click of the ratchet each time
They'd had...
Will let you know how I get on, but a bit nervous getting other bolts off, when I haven't succeeded with these. Just get on with it I reckon, asap.
Yes, seen quite a few just used the old ones, which is my intention
Good thing about having a separate daily driver, is if you need anything when...
To me, that bar inserted at the bottom of the pads seems to fix the pads in place with great force. Cant see 2 piddly pieces of wire holding them in place.
But hey, what do I know :-)
I have a breaker bar, and used it, and would have been happy to stand on it, but it slipped. That's why Ive ordered a new hex socket, although the bolt head is suffering from slippage on it. The one I used wasn't bad, but hoping a brand spanking new one will help. The bolt is seized- so any...
If you look at the rusty bit about 6 mm in the photo, between the 2 clips, that's the disc!
They both look like they are touching it- might just be the way the photo looks
EDIT: Thinking about it, the clips will bee on the edges of the brake pad, so should be quite a few millimetres away from...
They didnt seem like they were touching the discs when I spun the wheel after fitting the new pads, but looking at the photo I am gonna double check. All I could hear were the pads touching the disc just a little bit. The brakes do loudly squeal when full pressure put on.
OK, Will have a look...
